Race 1: 0-64 1300m

ZOCALOS (J Lyon) - Raced wide from the 600m.

WESTERNPORT (F Bergstrand) - A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

Race 2: 0-58 1200m

The start of this race was delayed several minutes due to BELLA GIULIETTA having a plate reattached behind the barriers.

DUKE OF YORK (K Gladwin) – Crowded near the 1150m.

EXERT (V Arnott) – Raced wide throughout.

LET’S CELEBRATE (B Davis) – Following the unplaced performance a post race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be suffering from  cardiac arrhythmia. Trainer G Clarke was advised that the mare must barrier trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards and a veterinary clearance must be received post trial.

MARY’S RED ROSE (B Huppatz) – Veered outwards at the start. Shifted inwards abruptly near the 1150m when racing ungenerously. Resented the kickback passing the 700m and shifted outwards hampering another runner. Crowded between runners and lost ground near the 500m.

MERVEILLE (S Ridler) – Crowded inwards near the 1150m.

BO ZEPHYR (W Davis) – Steadied outwards from heels at the 700m.

General – On inquiry it was established that approaching the 1150m MARY’S RED ROSE (B Huppatz) shifted inwards abruptly resulting in MERVEILLE (S Ridler) being crowded in onto DUKE OF YORK (K Gladwin). Whilst Stewards acknowledged that MARY’S RED ROSE was racing ungenerously in this incident, jockey B Huppatz was reprimanded for careless riding for not making a greater effort to straighten his mount.

At a further inquiry it was established that MARY’S RED ROSE was crowded and lost ground passing the 500m when racing between DUKE OF YORK which lay outwards and MERVEILLE which shifted inwards slightly.

Race 3: WFA 1200m

Stewards interviewed trainer G Clarke in regards to the riding instructions he intended to issue bearing in mind his stable had multiple runners in the event.

CHERABIN (M Hagley) – Raced wide throughout.

HOOK ME UP (K Gladwin) – Bumped at the start.

NEAT FEAT (B Davis) - Bumped at the start.

Race 4: Maiden 1100m

BARTENDER MAN (F Berstrand) - Bumped at the start.

FIRESON  (V Arnott) – Yielded ground in the straight A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

GRAMMAR BOY (B Davis) – Reared in the barriers and unseated the rider. After undergoing a veterinary check the gelding was cleared to compete. Commenced awkwardly and bumped.

TAN TAT BLAZE (C Spry) – Slow into stride.

DESXIRI (J Todd) – Raced wide throughout.

MISS ROYALTY (M Hagley) – Slow to muster early speed.

Race 5: 0-70 1100m

EL TORANADO (C Spry) - Raced wide throughout.

LOOKATIM GO (P Shiers) – Raced wide on straightening.

HOWDEE (M Hagley) – Bumped at the 1000m. The Club Veterinarian reported the gelding had returned with an ulcerated right eye.

WOOGIE (B Davis) – Brushed at the 1000m.

DARK WHIRLWIND (B Huppatz) – Lunged forward in the barriers and then reared at the start and lost ground. Shifted outwards and bumped another runner when racing keenly passing the 1000m. Disappointed for a clear run near the 200m and steadied inward

Race 6: 0-76 1600m

Stewards interviewed trainer P Cole (through his representative) in regards to the riding instructions he intended to issue bearing in mind his stable had multiple runners in the event.

As C Spry was dehydrated he was obliged to take in fluids and was unable to make the allotted weight on HAMMERED ART and therefore Stewards permitted jockey K Gladwin to replace him.

BREWERY (W Davis) – Following the unplaced performance a post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have an elevated heart rate.

COMMISSAR (F Bergstrand) – Commenced awkwardly.

WINDFOLA (J Lyon) - Raced wide throughout.


Race 7: BM54 1600m

ROCKMEARTIE (B Huppatz) – A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

ALPHA MATE (W Davis) – Eased when racing keenly passing the 1200m

Summary

Post race samples were taken from all winners and HAMMERED ART (2nd) in race 6. Pre race samples were taken from DREAM PASSENGER, MERVEILLE, CELEBRAKTI, BAGGINS, LOOKATIM GO & ALPHA MATE.
