Race 1 - MAIDEN PLT - 1300 metres

On arrival at the barriers the starter advised that VIKING PRINCESS had lost a front plate. The remaining front plate on VIKING PRINCESS was removed.

MUST MAKE MAGIC was slow into stride when the gates opened.

R Oakford rider of PADUWI was found guilty of a charge of excessive use of the whip (AR 137A(3)).

The details being that he used his whip to excess on PADUWI from the entrance to the straight until shortly after the 100 metres. Stewards acting under AR196(2) ordered that R Oakford forfeit his riding fee.

Race 2 - WFA HCP - 1200 metres

D McIntosh rider of KAPPA requested permission to view the video footage in the straight prior to correct weight.

Stewards subsequently advised D McIntosh that whilst they did not wish to discourage him from making every effort to fully inform himself prior to electing whether he should lodge a protest however by making such requests he is in fact delaying the declaration of correct weight. Further that in this instance the film clearly shows that no ground for protest existed and in the opinion of the stewards he should have been aware of that prior to viewing the video.

1st HARGITAY, 2nd KAPPA, 3rd PARTY CRASHER

Race 3 - 0-73 HCP - 1100 metres

On jumping away MOSSGREEN was tightened for room between CLASSY BLEV and SING STAR both of which shifted.

Near the 600 metres GLORIA had a tenancy to lay out and had to be eased off the heels of AFFAIR CON as a consequence.

Stewards opened an inquiry into the running of LA DEL. Evidence was taken from T Walsh the rider of LA DEL and Mrs J Huish trainer of LA DEL.

The Club's Veterinary Surgeon inspected LA DEL and reported that he could find no apparent abnormality with the filly.

The inquiry was adjourned until Thursday 28th January.

1st AFFAIR CON, 2nd SING STAR, 3rd MOSSGREEN

Race 4 - 0-73 HCP - 1300 metres

Acting on advice that CARNEGGAN JESTER had developed colic and was unfit to start stewards ordered its withdrawal at 8:43 am.

When the gates opened DEPINSKY bounded in the air and shifted in and bumped LEICA CON.

1st ROSE MARIE, 2nd DEPINSKY, 3rd ZABULLION

Race 5 - 0-62 HCP - 1200 metres

During the event SPEND THE MONEY lost it's near fore plate.

R Richard trainer of BRAVISSIO was fined $20 for the use of the Club's colours.

Approaching the first turn SHE'S A HUSSY rolled out on a number of occasions and bumped BLACKFORD which became unbalanced. As they rounded the turn near the 650 meters BLACKFORD had a tendency to lay in. SHE'S A HUSSY which was racing tight on the inside of BLACKFORD began to race ungenerously and had to be eased. MANHATTEN JAZZ which was racing behind SHE'S A HUSSY had to be eased off its heels as a consequence and lost ground. TAKALUA which was following had to be eased to avoid the heels of MANHATTEN JAZZ and also lost ground.

1st BLACKFORD, 2nd CAN'T CATCH MOUSE, 3rd ANOTHER BAY

Race 6 - 0-58 HCP - 1000 metres

R Oakford rider of SLICK SPIRIT requested to view the stewards patrol film prior to correct weight.

STIRRUP CUP bounded as the gates opened and lost ground.

Near the 600 metres CHICH OLIVIA had a tendency to get is head up and lay out as LIL MISS GIGGLES which was racing on its outside began to shift in to negotiate the turn. As a result CHICH OLIVIA had to be checked and lost ground.

The Club's Veterinary Surgeon reported that SLICK SPIRIT has suffered a laceration to the near fore.

Stewards adjourned a inquiry into D McIntosh use of the whip on STIRUPP CUP until a date to be fixed.
