Race 1: TROBIS 3-Y-O BMNT 55 Handicap 1100m
General: From DTC meeting Saturday 2 January, 2016. Trainer Mr J Manning reported that CURFEW which competed in Race 1 had subsequently been diagnosed with an injury to the near fore tendon and the gelding will now be retired.
FINKE (B Davis) – Slow into stride.
SUNSET STRIP (C Spry) – Commenced awkwardly and bumped. Raced without cover in running.
SHEZA DARK HORSE (V Arnott) – Bumped at the start.
Race 2: Weight for Age 1100m
KAYNO (V Arnott) – A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Stewards opened an inquiry into the handling of the gelding in this event. After taking evidence from jockey V Arnott and trainer Ms K Petrick, the matter was adjourned to a date and time to be fixed to allow for analysis of betting on the race.
Race 3: 0 – 64 Handicap 1100m
ARRISED (B Huppatz) – Commenced awkwardly.
ROEBUCK (K Cross) – Raced wide throughout.
MERVEILLE (F Bergstrand) – Lay inwards under pressure in the straight.
Race 4: Maiden Plte 1300m
ANOTHER MAN’S GAIN (R Vigar) – Raced wide throughout.
TAMAZIGHT (C Spry) – Commenced awkwardly and bumped.
BLACKEN RED (R Rhodes) – Bumped heavily at the start. Cast the off hind plate in running. Following the event trainer Mr P Stennett advised that the mare would now be retired.
POINSETTIA (B Huppatz) – Commenced awkwardly and bumped.
Race 5: 0 - 70 Handicap 1300m
KING KEV (C Spry) – Trainer Mr C Spry reported that the gelding had received chiropractic treatment following its unplaced run on 9 January, 2016 and this information was disseminated.
DOCKING (B Davis) – Knuckled at the start. Raced wide throughout.
CASINO EXIT (R Rhodes) – Commenced awkwardly. Raced keenly passing the 1000m. Cast the off hind plate in running.
Race 6: 0 - 58 Handicap 1600m
ATLANTIS (F Bergstrand) – Raced wide on straightening.
FRENCH TUSSON (R Vigar) – Raced wide throughout.
JEWELS OF AVA (V Arnott) – Stewards adhered to a request for jockey V Arnott to ride 1.5kg overweight as there was no other rider able to make the allotted weight and this information was disseminated. Following the event trainer Mr P Stennett advised that the mare would now be retired.
Swab samples were taken from all winners. Pre race samples were taken from ANOTHER MAN’S GAIN, TAMAZIGHT, BELLA GIULIETTA, CELEBRAKTI, ZOOM LAD, ATLANTIS, FRENCH TUSSON and ROYALS.
