KIWI BOSS (K Cross) – Commenced awkwardly.
PHOENIX ARIZONA (J Lyon) – Bumped at the start. Raced wide from the 600m.
PERPETUAL BLISS (J Todd) – Bumped at the start.
Race 2: 0 - 58 Handicap 1200m
TUSCARORA (V Arnott) - Veered inwards at the
start and bumped heavily with another runner.
GASOLINE ALLEY (K Cross) - Bumped heavily at the start and lost ground. Resented the kickback and as a result lost ground leaving the 1000m.
HEIRDOM (F Bergstrand) - Commenced awkwardly.
MAKOWSKY (B Huppatz) - Commenced awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.
SASSY RHONDA (L Miller) – Raced wide for the majority.PONTY (R Vigar) – Raced ungenerously with its head in from the 1000m to 900m due to the kickback.
Race 3: 3-Y-O Old No Claims 1200m
SKY MUSTER (R Oakford) – Race wide throughout.
JACKANORY (C Spry) – Slow into stride.OMBROMANI (F Bergstrand) – Lay outwards through the middle stages. A post race veterinary examination revealed gelding had returned with abrasions to the near hind.
Race 4: Maiden Plate 1100m
IWAUNA (L Miller) – Bumped and crowded at
the 1000m. Raced wide on straightening.
MICKY (J Lyon) – Raced wide throughout.
CLEESE (F Bergstrand) – Commenced awkwardly and bumped. Cast the near fore plate in running.
CONTACT FRONT (B Huppatz) – Crowded between runners and bumped heavily having to be steadied near the 1000m.
GOING GAGA (J Todd) – Raced wide throughout.
MCMANUS (R Oakford) – Commenced awkwardly.
OUTSTANDING BILL (K Cross) – Bumped at the start. Following the unplaced performance a post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have an elevated heart rate.
TSAVORITE (P Shiers) – Carried inwards and bumped heavily with another runner near the 1000m.
CAPTAIN ARCHIE (P Denton) – Lay inwards and as a result was steadied near the 600m.
WREAKED (V Arnott) – Shifted outwards away from another runner and bumped at the 1000m.General - On inquiry it was established that near the 1000m CONTACT FRONT (B Huppatz), TSAVORITE (P Shiers) and IWUANA (L Miller) all received varying degrees of interference when racing between WREAKED (V Arnott) which shifted out and away from McMANUS (R Oakford) and CAPTAIN ARCHIE (P Denton) which shifted in when racing greenly and made contact with TSAVORITE.
Race 5: Flying Handicap 1100m
MOOT (J Todd) – Bumped at the start. Shifted
outwards around heels near the 600m and raced wide from thereon. Returned
having bled from the right nostril. Trainer L Whittle’s representative was
advised of the provisions of AR53 (6)&(7) in that the gelding must perform
in a satisfactory gallop in the presence of the Steward prior to racing again.
KISS THE CONDOR (P Denton) – Bumped at the start.PYXIS (J Lyon) – Slow into stride.
Race 6: 0 - 62 Handicap 1000m
REX CELERITATE (R Oakford) - Commenced awkwardly and
KRUPTOR (F Bergstrand) - Commenced awkwardly. Lay outwards near the 650m and as a result was steadied.
BROOKLYN (C Spry) - Bumped at the start and then mis-strode. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have sustained a corneal abrasion in the left eye.EVIL MISS (K Cross) - Raced wide throughout and yielded ground in the straight. Trainer D Bates has advised the mare will now be sent for a short spell.
Race 7: Metric Mile 1600m
WHISTLE STOP (P Shiers) – When questioned
regarding the unplaced performance, rider advised that his mount had raced
keenly mid race due to the moderate pace but failed to quicken when asked for
an effort leaving the 600m and in his opinion only finished the race off
moderately in the straight. A post race veterinary examination revealed no
PRETTY BLONDE (J Lyon) – Commenced awkwardly.
WAR STORY (D Bates) – Slow into stride. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be suffering from synchronous diaphragmatic flutter (thumps).
ABU DHABI (C Spry) – Bounded at the start and then crowded and steadied shortly after. Raced keenly getting its head in the air between the 1000m and 800m due to the moderate pace. When questioned regarding the unplaced performance, rider advised that his mount was under pressure prior to straightening and in his opinion the gelding felt amiss. A post race veterinary examination revealed an elevated heart-rate. Trainer G Kennewell subsequently reported that the gelding underwent an endoscopic examination at his stable and will receive treatment for a respiratory condition.
ARCTIC SONG (W Davis) – Commenced awkwardly.SPARTAN EAGLE (K Cross) – Subsequent to the race, the veterinarian reported that the gelding had returned lame in the off fore. Trainer B Richard was advised he must present a vet clearance for the gelding prior to racing again.
Race 8: 0 - 70 Handicap 1600m
HAMMERED ART (C Spry) – Raced wide from the 600m.
KAYNO (F Bergstrand) – Raced wide from the 600m.
FRENCH TUSSON (R Vigar) – Blundered at the start unbalancing its rider and then bumped heavily with another rider. Steadied and crowded between runners near the 1400m. Raced wide from the 1200m.
ANOTHER MAN'S GAIN (P Denton) – Raced wide throughout.SALAMAAT (B Huppatz) – Bumped heavily at the start.
Swab samples were taken from all winners and SPARTAN EAGLE. Pre race samples were taken from JACKANORY, SKY MUSTER, DELTA D’OR, OMBROMANI, RAZOR TIME, FRENCH TUSSON, ANOTHER MAN’S GAIN, HEY CHARLIE, BEL SIR and all runners engaged in race 7.
Race 2 - Trainer G Lefoe was fined $100 for the late notification of a rider for PONTY – NT129
Race 8 - Trainer N Dyer was fined $100 for negligence in the saddling of BEL SIR – AR175(k)
Race 5 – MOOT bled one nostril
Race 7 – SPARTAN EAGLE – vet clearance (lame off fore)
