Race 2: Early Bird Carnival Tickets On Sale Handicap 0-64 – 1300m

Stewards interviewed trainer G Clarke in relation to the riding instructions he intended to issue as the stable had multiple runners in the event. Stewards interviewed trainer T Halter in relation to the riding instructions she intended to issue as the stable had multiple runners in the event.

DESARMER (J Todd) – Commenced awkwardly. When questioned rider advised that his mount hung outwards rounding the home turn and after contacting another runner had to be restrained and the gelding continued to lay outwards in the straight. A post-race veterinary examination detected the gelding to have an elevated heart rate. Trainer G Clarke advised that the gelding must barrier trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards prior to racing again. Subsequent to the race meeting Mr Clarke reported that he had identified that the gelding had a laceration inside its mouth.

DANIHER (W Davis) – Steadied when racing keenly passing the 900m and 700m.

STRAYA PRIDE (A Sweeney) – Commenced awkwardly and bumped. Raced wide throughout.

FAITHFUL CHAMPION (A Nicholls) – Bumped and crowded at the start. Held up for clear running approaching the 400m.

VILLA SEVENTYNINE (H Le Blanc) – Commenced awkwardly. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Brushed with another runner near the 400m.

GLOBAL WONDER (K Sardelic) – Resaddled behind the barriers.

JUST FOR MARCUS (P Denton) – Bumped at the start.

THE STIFMEISTER (S Logan) – Commenced awkwardly and bumped.

KESSLER (V Arnott) – When questioned rider advised that after being bumped heavily shortly after the start her mount, after initially resenting the kickback, was unable to muster pace in the early and middle stages when racing in a rearward position. The gelding then worked into the race and was held up for clear running from on straightening until approaching the 250m.

TYQUENDO (P Shiers) – Cast the near-fore plate in running.

Race 3: Silks Darwin Sunday Carvery Handicap C2 – 1200m

HELL FIRE MISS was declared a late scratching by order of the Stewards at 2.17pm due to injuries sustained after being loaded onto the float for transport to the course. Trainer C Baxter will be required to present a veterinary clearance prior to the mare racing again.

FRANKFURT (W Davis) – Commenced awkwardly.

IMPULSIVITY (A Sweeney) – Raced wide throughout.

RIBTICKLER (H Le Blanc) – Raced in restricted room rounding the home turn.

FIELD OF PRAISE (J Todd) – Carried outwards, crowded and steadied shortly after the start. Raced wide from the 600m.

Race 4: Great Northern TROBIS 3YO Handicap BMNT – 1100m

BOLLON (J Todd) – Bounded at the start and veered outwards losing ground.

LI’L BRAZEN (H Le Blanc) – Sustained an injury to the off-fore leg after the race and received immediate veterinary treatment. Trainer C Nash reported that x-rays revealed a fractured off knee and the filly was subsequently euthanized on humane grounds.

Race 5: Welcome To The Dry Handicap 0-70 – 1000m

SUPER FAMOUS (A Nicholls) – Raced wide on straightening.

KISSING SUPIDO (J Todd) – Raced wide throughout.

HEY LITTLE SISTER (K Sardelic) – Difficult to load, delaying the start time by several minutes. Trainer C Pollard was advised that the mare must barrier trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards prior to racing again.

Race 6: darwinturfclub.org.au Handicap 0-58 – 1600m

Stewards interviewed trainer C Pollard in relation to the riding instructions he intended to issue as the stable had multiple runners in the event.

DESERT MIST (A Nicholls) – Held up for clear running between the 450m until steadied outwards from heels near the 200m.

I’M A DREAMER (R Vigar) – Bumped outwards near the 400m. Trainer T Halter subsequently reported that the gelding had sustained a laceration behind the off knee from this incident and would now be sent for a spell.

SABOR (V Arnott) – Raced wide in running. Bumped heavily, mistrode and dipped near the 400m.

DANGER MAN (K Sardelic) – Shifted outwards and bumped another runner near the 400m.

REDSNAP (P Denton) – Raced wide throughout.

General – On inquiry jockey K Sardelic (DANGER MAN) pleaded guilty to a charge of engaging in careless riding under AR131(a). The specifics being that near the 400m he angled his mount outwards when insufficiently clear bumping I’M A DREAMER (R Vigar) out into the rightful running of SABOR (V Arnott) which was bumped heavily, mistrode and dipped from heels. Jockey K Sardelic had his license to ride in races suspended for 2 NT meetings to expire after 7 June 2025 and in addition he was fined the sum of $750.
