Race 2: Lion Handicap 1200 metres

TWISTING TYPHOON - At the request of its trainer a veterinary examination was carried out on the gelding and subsequently was a late withdrawal at 2:00pm on veterinary advice after being found to have some swelling around off hind hock. Trainer W Savage was advised that prior to that gelding again starting in a trial or race, he must provide a veterinary certificate of soundness satisfactory to the Stewards.

As there was no bookmaker on course, no deductions were applicable.

ICE HUNT (D Morgan) – Bumped with another runner on jumping.

GOLDEN DICE (C Hunter) – Commenced awkwardly. After a disappointing performance finishing a distance last, a veterinary examination of the gelding failed to reveal any apparent abnormalities. Rider advised that the gelding resented the kickback throughout the event. Whilst noting C Hunters explanation, Stewards advised trainer D Leech that they would monitor the gelding’s next start and a similar performance may result in some action being taken.

BABE IN BOOTS (W Kerford) – Commenced awkwardly.

DREAM PASSENGER (W Davis) – Bumped with another runner on jumping.

Race 3: Yeperenye Shopping Centre Handicap 1200 metres

Due to a mishap with a runner pushing some of the running rail down when entering onto the track, this event was put back 5 minutes to start at 3:57pm whilst repairs to the rail were carried out.

Stewards interviewed trainer L Gillett in relation to the riding instructions she intended to issue her riders bearing in mind she had multiple runners in this event.

SAVATOXL (L Crow) – Bumped with another runner on jumping.

MANDATER (C Hunter) – Bumped with runner on jumping becoming momentarily unbalanced.

RUN BY NIGHT (P Denton) – Bumped with another runner on jumping. Inclined to lay inwards under pressure down the length of the straight.

NIP IN A GLASS (D Morgan) – Bumped with another runner on jumping and raced a little greenly in the early stages.

HARRY HELLRAISER (B Huppatz) – Knuckled on jumping and raced wide throughout.

HEART OF RED (J Todd) – Fractious in the barriers.

BRAZILLIANT (B Huppatz) – Inclined to lay outwards rounding the home turn.

EVIL DREAMS (W Davis) – Raced wide throughout.

TRYSTOFF (D Morgan) – Slow into stride. Disappointed for clear running at the 650m having to steady off heels.

Race 5: Coleman Handicap 1000 metres

GRANDE CASTAGNO (D Morgan) – Commenced awkwardly getting its head up and bumping with another runner.

NEXT GENERATION (R Vigar) – Raced wide throughout.

TIGER TRAP (C Hunter) – Bumped with another runner on jumping.

KEEMON (J Todd) – Hung outwards rounding the home turn causing its rider difficulty in controlling the gelding. Trainer L Whittle was advised by Stewards that prior to that gelding again starting in a race, in must barrier trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards.

POPPY DARLING (W Kerford) – Commenced awkwardly bumping with another runner.

VIOTTI (S Wiseman) – Slow into stride bumping with another runner.

Race 6: SDA Plumbing St Patricks Day Cup 1400 metres

PERESSINI (J Todd) – Slow into stride.

ROKDA KASBA (L Crow) – Retired from the race near the 1200m. The veterinarian reported that the gelding had sustained a fracture to the near fore leg and was subsequently euthanized.

HALOGEM (W Kerford) – Slow into stride.

BILLET DOUX (D Morgan) – Inclined to lay inwards under pressure from the 150m.

MAGNUS BAY (P Denton) – Commenced a little awkwardly.

SEEK TO DESTROY (S Wiseman) – Slow into stride.
