G Clarke was advised that prior to that gelding again starting in a trial or race, he must produce a veterinary certificate of soundness satisfactory to the Stewards.

CALIFORNIA LAESTAR (W Kerford) – After a disappointing performance, a veterinary examination of the colt failed to reveal any apparent abnormalities. When questioned rider advised that he felt the colt may have choked down in running as it began to yield ground from the 500m. Trainer R Bell was at a loss to explain the performance but was of the opinion that the colt had yielded ground very quickly when the rider had reduced his level of vigour and this had contributed to the colt finishing well back. He subsequently advised that the colt had recovered well. Stewards advised that they would monitor the colt’s next start.

General – On inquiry jockey W Cave (LOTS OF COIN) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under AR131(a) with the specifics being that approaching the 650m he permitted his mount to shift inwards when insufficiently clear resulting in BLACK HAZE (B Davis) being tightened for room and checked which in turn resulted in HARRY HELLRAISER (R Vigar) being tightened for room and restrained. W Cave had his license to ride in races suspended for 1 NT meeting to expire after 20 April, 2019 and in addition he was fined $300. W Cave was notified of his right of appeal.
