General – All runners engaged in the Pioneer Sprint (race 7) underwent a veterinary examination prior to race day with no issues identified.

 

Race 1 0-58 1200m

DUVET (C Spry) – Bumped at the start. Rider reported that his mount returned to the enclosure without its tongue tie and expressed the opinion that it had become detached in the early stages of the event.

ICE HUNT (C Macfarlane) – Slow into stride. Raced wide from the 600m.

JONNY AKHATON (C Hunter) – Commenced awkwardly.

BLAZING BULLET (J Todd) – Slow into stride.

EXACTING (W Kerford) – Commenced awkwardly and bumped.

GRANDE CASTAGNO (D Morgan) – Lay outwards under pressure in the straight.

WOOGIE (B Huppatz) – Raced ungenerously in the early and middle stages and then lay outwards rounding the home turn.

ISLE OF LIGHT (B Davis) – Raced wide throughout.

TIGER TRAP (S Wiseman) – Commenced awkwardly.

Race 2: 3YO 1200m

GOLDEN DICE (S Wiseman) was declared a late scratching at 12.14pm on vet’s advice after trainer D Leech reported that the gelding had blood in the off side nostril. As the reason for the cause of this could not be ruled out as being the result of an external trauma, trainer D Leech was advised that he must present a veterinary clearance for the gelding prior to racing again.

RAZOR BEER (R Vigar) – Obliged to race wide throughout.

MAIDEN GRACE (P Denton) – Slow into stride. Lay outwards throughout and bumped another runner passing the 700m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

GOGOLDCOAST (C Hunter) – Bumped at the 700m. Cast the near hind plate in running.

KNIGHTS HELMET (W Davis) – Commenced awkwardly. Angled inwards to secure a clear run near the 400m. Lay outward under pressure over the final 100m.

NIP IN A GLASS (D Morgan) – Failed to muster early speed despite the efforts of its rider. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the colt to be lame in the near fore. Trainer S Robbins was advised that she must present a veterinary clearance for the colt prior to racing again.

Race 3: 0-66 1100m

THE HUMMEL (B Huppatz) – Commenced awkwardly and bumped. Carried outwards and impeded from heels and steadied inwards near the 150m.

BRAZILLANT (K Gladwin) – Bumped at the start. Lay outwards from the 600m. Taken outwards by another runner over the concluding stages.

ROYCEY (D Morgan) – Commenced awkwardly losing ground. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding had sustained injury to the off shoulder. Trainer S Robbins was advised that she must produce a veterinary clearance for the gelding prior to racing again.

NORDIC ECLIPSE (C MacFarlane) – Raced wide throughout. Lay outwards when under pressure in the straight.

JAILHOUSE ROCK (S Wiseman) – Bumped at the start.

SABAI SABAI (W Davis) – Bumped at the start. Shifted outwards under pressure over the concluding stages.

SHINING MANE (J Todd) – Shifted outwards from the 200m.

HEART OF EDEN (R Vigar) – Commenced awkwardly and veered outwards. Raced wide throughout.

General - On inquiry jockey J Todd (SHINING MANE) was reprimanded for careless riding under AR131(a) for allowing his mount to shift outwards when being ridden along leaving the 250m resulting in THE HUMMELL (B Huppatz) being carried outwards and impeded at the 150m.

Race 4: Maiden 1100m

WHITWORTH (P Denton) – Bumped at the start. Held up rounding the home turn and taken outwards at the 250m to secure a clear run.

ASASHIO (D Morgan) – Slow into stride bumping with another runner. Contacted the inside rail passing the 650m and became unbalanced losing ground.

LIGHTSOFTHE HARBOUR (S Wiseman) – Slow into stride and raced a little erratic in the early stages.

LOTS OF COIN (C Hunter) – Bumped at the start. Trainer J Peacock reported that the gelding had returned to the mounting enclosure without its tongue tie.

KUMMERLINGS (L Crow) – Commenced awkwardly. Restrained after improving onto the heels of tiring runners inside the final 75m.

ROGUE BULLET (S Fawke) – Knuckled and bumped at the start.

THE AMAZING TAHLIA (B Huppatz) – Bounded on jumping.

Race 5: 0-70 1200m

CUNNING MOVES (J Todd) – Commenced awkwardly bumping with a runner shortly after.

NIC NAC (C MacFarlane) – Bumped shortly after the start.

QUANTUM DOT (D Morgan) – Slow into stride losing ground.

Race 6: Sprint 1200m

Stewards interviewed trainer G Clarke in relation to the riding instructions he intended to issue bearing in mind his stable had multiple runners in this event.

NEAT FEAT (K Gladwin) – Lay outwards through the middle stages and as a result bumped with another runner 400m.

ICEFLOW (C MacFarlane) – Raced wide throughout.

REMBRANDT (L Crow) – Momentarily tightened for room along the rails at the 250m.

PYXIS (W Kerford) – Bumped with another runner at the 900m. Steadied off heels at the 750m.

SKY MUSTER (P Denton) – Commenced awkwardly bumping with another runner and steadied off heels shortly after. Steadied off heels at the 500m when racing forward.

CROWN FONTEIN (S Fawke) – Commenced awkwardly bumping with runner and bumped again at the 900m. Raced wide throughout. Commenced to shift inwards under pressure from the 100m.

ROUGHLY (S Wiseman) – Bumped on the hindquarters and unbalanced at the 400m.

Correct weight for this event was delayed when the rider of the fourth placegetter (BACKSLAP) requested to see the photo finish print.

General - On inquiry jockey S Fawke (CROWN FONTEIN) was reprimanded for careless riding under AR131(a) for allowing his mount to shift inwards uncorrected leaving the 200m resulting in PYXIS (W Kerford) being impeded near the 75m.

Race 7: 0-62 1600m

SATIN ROAD (C MarFarlane) was declared a late scratching at 12.14pm on vet’s advice after the mare sustained laceration to the off hind leg in a floating mishap. Trainer G Connor was advised that he must present a veterinary clearance for the gelding prior to racing again.

COPERNICUS (C Hunter) – Knuckled at the start and lost ground.

GRAB FOR POWER (B Davis) – Bumped with a runner at the 100m.

REDWOOD GARDENS (S Wiseman) – Commenced awkwardly.

RIGHT HERE (B Huppatz) – Bumped at the start. Inclined to lay outwards under pressure into the straight and bumped with a another runner at the 100m.

HES ALL WHITE (D Morgan) – Bumped at the start and raced wide throughout the event.

All riders were subjected to breath testing to detect the presence of alcohol.

Post-race samples were taken from all winners, REMBRANDT (R6) & THE CAPTAIN (R6).

Pre-race samples taken from GOGOLDCOAST, MODERNA’S ARROW, TIGER TRAP, OUR WITNESS, HEART OF EDAN, LIGHTS OF THE HARBOUR, BRAZILLIANT, GRAB FOR POWER, COLDROCK, MAUDY, HE’S ALL WHITE and all runners in race 6.
