General – All runners engaged in the Alice Springs Cup (race 8) underwent a veterinary examination prior to race day with no issues identified.

 

Race 1 0-66 1400m

FEDERAL COURT (B Davis) – Slow into stride. Over-raced into the first turn and as a result had to be steadied passing the 1200m and again at the 1000m. Held up for a clear run between the 400m and the 300m.

TRYSTOFF (Z Spain) – Lay outwards under pressure over the concluding stages.

ZAP (S Wiseman) - Commenced awkwardly.

BIANCONIS SON (J Todd) – Commenced awkwardly.

Race 2: BM76 2000m

General: R Vigar replaced C Spry as the rider of PRETTY BLONDE after that rider was found to be over-weight.

AMERICAN STAR (C Hunter) ($11) was declared a late scratching at 1.18pm by order of the Stewards acting on vet’s advice as the gelding took charge of its rider in the preliminary and galloped for some distance and completed a lap of the course. As a result of this incident the race was delayed several minutes.

All monies wagered on AMERICAN STAR were ordered to be refunded and the following deductions were applicable to successful bets placed prior to 1.18pm.

THAT’S JUSTIFIED (W Kerford) – Bumped at the start. When questioned regarding the unplaced performance rider reported that his mount was under pressure prior to straightening and was of the opinion that the gelding did not appreciate the step up in distance of today’s event under the heavy weight impost. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

ALL HARD WOOD (P Gatt) – Commenced awkwardly losing ground. Commenced to yield ground from the 800m.

LOTION (B Davis) – Lay outwards under pressure in the straight.

LINDWALL (J Todd) – Bumped at the start.

RECONNECT (W Davis) – Lay outwards under pressure in the straight.

DANOULI (S Fawke) – Fractious in the gates. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.

BILLET DOUX (D Morgan) – Bumped at the start. Raced wide throughout.

BIT OF A FLIRT (S Wisman) – Bumped at the start.

Race 3: 2YO 1200m

SHIFT THE RISK (R Vigar) – Resaddled behind the barriers.

D’LIVA (Z Spain) – Bumped with another runner at the 600m.

STILL JUSTIFIED (C Spry) – Commenced awkwardly.

TOTALLY JUSTIFIED (J Todd) – Commenced awkwardly losing ground. Bumped with another runner at the 600m.

ARROGANT MISS (L Crow) - Proved difficult to load, delaying the start. Trainer R Bell was advised that a warning would be placed on the filly in this regard. Bumped at the start.

LIT (B Huppatz) – Proved extremely difficult to load delaying the start by several minutes. Trainer K Lamprecht was advised that the filly must barrier trial satisfactorily prior to racing again with the emphasis being on loading in a timely manner.

ZEPHYR GROVE (K Gladwin) – Commenced awkwardly and bumped.

Race 4: 0-76 Fillies & Mares 1200m

ROUGHLY(S Wiseman) – Raced wide throughout the event.

RIVERINA ROMANCE (Z Spain) – Bumped at the start.

MAGNUS MAGIC (S Fawke) – Bumped at the start. Lay outwards in running and as a result was steadied from heels passing the 600m. A post race veterinary examination of the mare failed to reveal any apparent abnormalities.

BABE IN BOOTS (W Kerford) – Bumped at the start.

FIRE ‘N’ VICE (J Todd) – Commenced awkwardly.

SHOAL RIVER (C Hunter) – Raced wide into the straight and lay inwards under pressure over the final 100m.

1ST BABE IN BOOTS 2ND HARMONIUM BELLS 3RD ROUGHLY

 

Race 5: 0-62 1100m

GLOBAL ICON (B Huppatz) – Inclined to shift outwards under pressure from the 150m.

WINDSOR CUP (K Gladwin) – Raced wide throughout the event.

SHINING MANE (J Todd) – Impeded near the 150m.

WINGARDS MARK (Z Spain) – Steadied at the 300m when held up for a clear run.

ICELANDIC STAR (D Morgan) – Lay inwards under pressure over the concluding stages.

GOLDEN DICE (P Gatt) – Bumped at the start.

PRINCESS LEAH (S Wiseman) – Knuckled badly at the start and bumped.

FUGITIVE (S Fawke) – Bumped at the start.

General: Jockey S Wiseman complained of neck soreness following this race and was attended to by the Paramedics. She was advised she must produce a medical clearance prior to riding again.

 

Race 6: WFA 1000m

PYXIS (W Kerford) – Mistrode and dipped at the 600m. Lay inwards under pressure over the concluding stages.

EIGHTEEN BOMBERS (W Davis) – Commenced awkwardly.

OVERIDE (L Crow) – Slow into stride.

1ST PYXIS 2ND LIVE FAST 3RD EIGHTEEN BOMBERS

 

Race 7: 0-58 1600m

NEXT GENERATION (L Crow) – Lay inwards and bumped another runner passing the 700m.

IN MODERATION (P Gatt) – Commenced slow into stride. Carried inwards passing the 700m.

KYD ROCK (C Hunter) – Bumped inwards by another runner passing the 700m. Returned having bled from the off nostril. Trainer J Peacock was advised of his obligations under AR79(8).

HENRY LAD (R Vigar) – Bumped on jumping. Improved quickly near the 300m and had to check outwards from heels to improve.

ALENTOURS (C Spry) – Bumped on jumping.

DREAM PASSENGER (D Morgan) – Commenced awkwardly and bumped.

ULARAR (P Denton) – After being involved in a mishap when being brought to the course, the colt underwent a veterinary examination and was cleared to compete. Bumped and crowded between runners passing the 700m.

FRANULA (Z Spain) – Crowded and steadied passing the 650m.

General – On inquiry it was established that approaching the 700m HENRY LAD (R Vigar) when laying inwards shifted ground resulting in FRANULA (Z Spain) being crowded and steadied. At a further inquiry it was established that passing the 700m NEXT GENERATION (L Crow) lay inwards and bumped KYD ROCK (C Hunter) inwards, resulting in IN MODERATION (P Gatt) being carried onto ULARAR (P Denton) which was bumped and crowded between runners. Stewards were satisfied that no rider was at fault in this incident.

HARREBS TIME (R Vigar) – Steadied off heels into the first turn.

LAKE JACKSON (C Spry) – Steadied off heels at the 1200m when racing forward.

ELECTRIC CRIMSON (P Gatt) – Commenced awkwardly.

DOWNHEARTED (B Davis) – Inclined to over-race in the early stages of the event.

THE WILD SIDE (J Todd) – Commenced awkwardly.
