A protest was lodged by jockey M Hart rider of the fifth placegetter AWESOME MO against the fourth placed TREBLA (B Huppatz) alleging interference inside the 200m. After taking evidence from the relevant parties and viewing the patrol vision Stewards were of the opinion that AWESOME MO had sufficient room when racing to the inside of TREBLA in the straight and whilst that gelding did shift in marginally passing the 100m, there was no significant impediment to AWESOME MO and the protest was dismissed.

The gelding was again assessed in the preliminary and behind the barriers. Bumped at the start. When questioned regarding the performance trainer/jockey advised that the gelding normally gets back in running but when racing first up it had raced keenly in the early stages and settled more forward than expected and was then under pressure leaving the 600m.
