BRIDGEY FLYER (V Arnott) – Raced wide throughout.

CAPTAIN CALIFORNIA (J Cartwright) – Commenced awkwardly.

CHOICE APPROACH (J Todd) - Commenced awkwardly.

BEAU GARCON (T Treichel) – Over-raced through the middle stages and lay outwards rounding the first turn.

Race 2: WFA 1200m

BAKSLAP (P Shiers) – Steadied from heels near the 650m.

DAWN RAID (J Todd) – Slow to muster early speed.

MOOT (R Vigar) – Raced wide throughout.

MULK (T Treichel) – Sustained a fracture to the off fore leg during the event. The mare was subsequently euthanized on humane grounds.

Race 3: 0-70 1100m

MAKIN THE GRADE (K Gladwin) – Commenced awkwardly. Raced keenly passing the 800m.

LOOKING FOR YOU (T Treichel) – Raced wide throughout.

TRYSTOFF (J Cartwright) – Slow into stride.

1ST CLEVER TOMMY 2ND SMUGGLING 3RD DIVINE RED

 

Race 4: 0-58 1100m

CLEESE (B Huppatz) – Raced wide throughout. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

ICE HUNT (R Vigar) – Dwelt at the start. When questioned regarding the performance rider advised that after missing the start his mount was off the bit in the early and stages when being ridden along but when presented with clear running in the home straight the gelding responded to his urgings and finished the race off solidly.

EDGE OF CHAOS (M Tyndall) – Returned with a laceration to the right nostril.

WICKED AFFAIR (J Todd) – Commenced awkwardly. Raced ungenerously rounding the 700m turn.

1ST HATTAN MAN 2ND RUTH’S BOY 3RD EDGE OF CHAOS

 

Race 5: 0-66 1600m

CASHING UP (K Gladwin) – Carried outwards and steadied near 1550m.

ROSHERVILLE (C Spry) – Under pressure prior to straightening and yielded ground in the straight. Following the unplaced performance trainer C Spry advised that he would have blood samples from the gelding analysed and advise Stewards accordingly of the results.

WICKED RHYTHM (J Todd) – Raced wide from the 600m.

SKALDAK (R Vigar) – Rider fumbled his near side rein shortly after the start and when being regathered his mount shifted out hampering another runner near the 1500m.

Race 6: Ladbrokes Derby 2000m

AURMAN ZOU (P Hall) – Raced wide the majority of the event.

COUNTRY COP (M Aitken) – Commenced awkwardly. Raced keenly between the 1700m and the 1400m. Impeded from the heels of a tiring runner passing the 600m and bumped with another runner.

ITS MAGIC (J Todd) – Veered outwards at the start. Raced keenly for some distance leaving 1400m.

MAORI MAGIC (P Denton) – Bumped outwards at the 650m and yielded ground from thereon.

MOMENTUM AMETHYST (W Daivs) – Raced keenly into the 1600m turn and had to be steadied out across heels and then continued to race ungenerously for some distance.

PAGHMAN (K Gladwin) – Bumped by another runner and crowded passing the 600m. Returned with an ulcerated eye.

POETS LANDING (P Shiers) – Bumped on the hindquarters by another runner passing the 650m.

TOMB RAIDER (T Treichel) – Carried outwards and bumped another runner passing the 650m and yielded ground from thereon.

VISAO (C Spry) – Commenced awkwardly.

GENERAL FACTOR (J Cartwright) – Bounded at the start. Shifted outwards to improve and bumped another runner passing the 650m.

General – On inquiry jockey J Cartwright (GENERAL FACTOR) was found guilty under AR131(a) of engaging in careless riding with the specifics being that near the 650m he did angle his mount outwards to obtain a run when insufficiently clear making contact with and bumping MAORI MAGIC (P Denton) outwards which hampered TOMB RAIDER (T Treichel) when that gelding contacted the hindquarters of POET’S LANDING (P Shiers). Jockey J Cartwright was suspended for 1 NT meeting to expire after 27 July, 2019 and in addition was fined the sum of $300.

Race 7: Buntine 1900m

LIEDER (J Cartwright) – Bumped at the start. Raced wide from the 500m.

I AM THE FOX (W Davis) – Bumped, crowded for room and steadied by its rider when under pressure near the 600m. Returned with an ulcerated eye.

ROMANESQUE (V Arnott) – Shifted in marginally when improving passing the 600m and contacted another runner.

JUNIOR BURGER (R Vigar) – Bumped at the start.

Summary

Swab samples were taken from all winners, (R6) SAVATOXYL and (R2) MULK (post mortem). Pre race samples were taken from THE AUDITOR, BEAU GARCON, JAVA, THE HUMMEL, EDGE OF CHAOS, CRONAUER, CASHING UP, ROMANESQUE and all runners engaged in race 6.
