Race 1: 0-66 1300m

COMMISSAR (J Todd) – Commenced awkwardly.

ZAP (S Wiseman) – Slow into stride. Returned having bled from both nostrils. As this was the first occasion the gelding had bled, trainer D Leech was advised of the provisions of AR79.

JAYEFFKAY (P Hall) – Rider reported his mount lay outwards in running and changed stride on the turns. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have an elevated heart rate.

1ST ZAP 2ND COMMISSAR 3RD TICKET TO PARIS

 

Race 2: Maiden 1300m

BIG JUAN (B Huppatz) – Slow into stride. Commenced to race keenly and as a result was steadied back from heels leaving the 900m and again at the 800m.

ASK THE BOYS (S Wiseman) – Bumped at the start.

SALTITO (M Tyndal) – Bumped at the start.

CINOMENM (D Morgan) – Bumped at the start. Returned having bled from the right nostril. Trainer P Cole was advised that the filly must gallop satisfactorily in the presence of the Stewards in accordance with AR79.

RECORDING TO WIN (T Treichel) – Bumped at the start.

SHECRAN (W Davis) – Commenced awkwardly and struck the barrier petition. When questioned regarding the uncompetitive performance rider advised after the incident at the start his mount failed to stretch out and race on the bit. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer P Stennett was advised that the filly must barrier trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards prior to racing again.

FEDERAL COURT (R Vigar) – Commenced awkwardly.

TRYSTOFF (D Morgan) – Slow into stride and bumped. Steadied off heels near the 500m when inconvenienced for clear running.

OMINOUS WARNING (P Shiers) – Commenced awkwardly and bumped.

SABAI SABAI (W Davis) – Raced wide throughout.

Race 4: Class 2 1100m

CHOPSTICKS (D Morgan) – Fractious in the barriers prior to the start. Slow into stride and then bumped. Improved onto heels near the 600m and steadied.

COTILLION (M Aitken) – Bumped at the start.

WORLD FORCE (V Arnott) – Raced wide throughout.

EDGE OF CHAOS (M Tyndall) – Commenced awkwardly. Changed stride near the 600m and shifted in brushing the running rail.

PREEMPTIVE (T Treichel) – Fractious prior to the start. Bumped at the start.

PRINCESS LEAH (J Todd) – Raced wide throughout.

Race 5: 0-62 1600m

HENRY LAD (R Vigar) – Slow to begin.

BRIDGEY FLYER (V Arnott) – Raced wide throughout. Cast both hind plates in running.

MOMENTUM AMETHYST (W Davis) – Over raced in the early and middle stages. Inclined to lay inwards under pressure in the straight.

COUNT OF ESSEX (S Wiseman) – Commenced awkwardly.

KYD ROCK (D Morgan) – Bumped at the start.

ALBERTA MAGIC (K Gladwin) – Fractious in the barriers prior to the start.

Race 6: Darwin Corporate Park Cup 1300m

Stewards interviewed trainer G Clarke in relation to the riding instructions he intended to issue his riders bearing in mind he had multiple runners in this event.

ICE FLOW (T Treichel) – Veered inwards at the start and bumped.

ARCTIC SONG (P Hall) – Bumped at the start.

TYCOON DANCER (R Vigar) – Tightened between runners at the start.

General – On inquiry apprentice jockey M Aitken pleaded guilty to a charge under AR185 for changing his riding boots after weighing out to ride SMUGGLING. Stewards issued a fine of $2000. In arriving at this decision it was taken into account that this was his third breach of a similar rule within a 2 year period. He was advised of his right of appeal.

All riders were breath tested for the detection of alcohol.
