General: Correct weight for this event was delayed after riders F Bergstrand and L Crow requested to view the Stewards patrol footage from the top of the straight. After viewing the patrol footage, apprentice L Crow rider of the4th placegetter (PAOLO) in the presence of trainer R Bell, lodged a protest against the 3rd placegetter (TOFFIATO) alleging interference over the concluding stages of the event. Evidence was taken from trainers Mr R Bell and Mr G Connor, and apprentices L Crow and D Morgan. After deliberating on the evidence, Stewards dismissed the protest and ordered that all placing’s stand. Whilst Stewards acknowledged that PAOLO was taken inwards causing the rider to take hold, Stewards were satisfied that her mount was not making ground when TOFFIATO drew level and went on to beat her mount by a length on the line whilst shifting ground inwards.

At a  subsequent inquiry, apprentice D Morgan in the presence of his master G Connor, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR131(a). The specifics of the charge being that he did allow his mount to shift ground inwards approaching the finish when insufficiently clear resulting in PAOLO being taken inwards behind other runners subsequently causing its rider to stop riding and take hold. D Morgan had his licence to ride in races suspended to commence midnight the 22nd September and to expire midnight 29th September 2029. (1NT) meeting. D Morgan was advised of his right of appeal.
