Race 1: 0-70 1300m
WICKED PROMISE (D Morgan) – Raced wide throughout.
EMJYE (B Huppatz) – Following a report to the Stewards from trainer C Pollard the gelding underwent a veterinary examination upon arrival on course and was cleared to compete.
Race 2: BM54 1300m
MY TRADITION (B Huppatz) – Commenced awkwardly. Tightened for room and checked near the 650m.
MACON COUNTY (V Arnott) – Raced wide throughout.
SKALDAK (P Shiers) – Taken outwards leaving the 100m to secure a clear run.
PRINCESS MARIBEL (R Vigar) – Raced wide on straightening and lay inwards under pressure passing the 100m.
General: On inquiry jockey P Denton (WARWINKA) was found guilty of a charge of engaging in careless riding under AR131(a).The specifics being that near the 650m he allowed his mount to shift inwards when not clear resulting in DIVISIONAL (B Davis) being taken in towards MY TRADITION (B Huppatz) which was tightened for room and checked by its rider. Jockey P Denton had his license to ride in races suspended for 1 NT meeting to expire after 12 October, 2019.
Race 3: 0-58 1200m
SECRET CHARGE (P Shiers) – Raced wide throughout.
TREBLA (K Gladwin) – Slow into stride. Raced wide throughout.
BON AIRE (F Bergstrand) – Steadied when racing keenly passing the 1000m.
TICKET TO PARIS (R Vigar) – Raced wide on straightening.
Race 4: Maiden 1100m
LIBERTYS TORCH (W Davis) – Rider reported that after being crossed by another runner his mount reacted adversely to the kickback by losing momentum passing the 800m and then continued to race ungenerously for some distance.
HEADBELLS (D Morgan) – Raced wide throughout.
Race 5: BMNT 1100m
Stewards interviewed trainer G Clarke in relation to his riding instructions as he had multiple runners in this event.
ANOTHER BIT (B Davis) – Raced wide without cover in running and yielded ground inside the final 200m. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. In regards to the unplaced performance trainer G Clarke advised that whilst he was disappointed the gelding did not finish the race off as anticipated he was mindful that today’s race was a rise in class and the gelding was competing for the first time in Darwin against older horses. He subsequently advised that the gelding had recovered from the event without incident.
ROUGHLY (D Morgan) – Reared at the start and then commenced awkwardly losing ground. Raced ungenerously through the middle stages.
CULZEAN (V Arnott) – Crowded at the start.
Summary
Swab samples were taken from all winners. Pre race samples were taken from EMJYE, THE AUDITOR, WAWRINKA, BELAR BLUE, ROUGHLY & SO STOIC.
