BLUE BALLOON was declared a late scratching at 12.15pm by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice after the mare sustained a laceration to the off hind leg in a stable mishap.
NIC NAC (D Morgan) – Impeded behind the heels of another runner approaching the 400m and steadied outwards as a result.
SNOW CREEK (L Crow) – Commenced awkwardly bumping with another runner.
WINGARD (J Todd) – Little slow into stride.
LUNCH MONEY (P Denton) – Raced wide throughout.
TIGER TRAP (B Huppatz) – Bumped with another runner on jumping.
BETH ROSE (C Hunter) – Lay inwards over the concluding stages causing its rider some difficulties in controlling the mare. As post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any apparent abnormalities. Trainer S Westover was advised that a warning is now placed on the mare and a similar occurrence may result in further action being taken. Trainer subsequently advised that the mare would now be retired from racing.
