Stewards interviewed trainer C Pollard in relation to his riding instructions as his stable had multiple runners in this event.

COUNT OF ESSEX (P Shiers) – Lay outwards rounding the home turn.

DUNKIRK (D Morgan) – Bumped at the start. Steadied outwards across heels rounding the home turn.

BLAZE OF GLORY (B Huppatz) – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.

CLEESE (T Treichel) – Commenced awkwardly and bumped.

IRON CURTAIN (R Vigar) – Raced wide throughout.

FORT NECESSITY (V Arnott) – Raced wide for the majority of the event.

Race 2: 0-58 1300m

Stewards interviewed trainer C Pollard in relation to his riding instructions as his stable had multiple runners in this event.

KYD ROCK (T Treichel) – Commenced awkwardly. Rider reported that when crossed by another runner his mount resented the kickback and consequently lost momentum for some distance leaving the 800m.

BON AIRE (W Davis) – Commenced awkwardly.

THE AUDITOR (K Gladwin) – Raced wide throughout.

PERPETUITY (B Huppatz) – Slow into stride.

BIG JUAN (J Todd) – Commenced awkwardly. Lay inwards under pressure in the straight.

Race 3: 0-64 1300m

BRUNSWICK STREET (P Shiers) – Slow to muster early speed.

ALCATRAN (V Arnott) – Faltered near the 950m and was eased down by its rider. The gelding sustained a fracture to the near fore leg and was subsequently humanely euthanized by the Club Veterinarian. A post mortem sample was collected.

ROSHERVILLE (R Vigar) – Steadied at the 900m. Rider fumbled and dropped his whip near the 100m.

MY DELILAH (P Denton) – Impeded at the 800m. After finishing last in the event the mare returned with an elevated heart rate and in a distressed condition and required veterinary treatment. Trainer K Healy, through his representative trainer P Cole, was advised that the mare must barrier trial satisfactorily prior to racing again and he must also present a veterinary clearance. Trainer P Cole subsequently reported the mare had recovered within normal parameters in the days following the race.

DEFENCE ATTORNEY (V Arnott) – Commenced awkwardly. Resented the kickback in the early stages and taken outwards near the 900m and raced wide from thereon.

AUTOCRATIC (J Todd) – Commenced awkwardly.

WICKED WARRIOR (D Morgan) – Carried inwards and bumped at the start.

Race 5: 0-70 1200m

PATRIA (J Todd) – Crowded and bumped at the start. Steadied rounding the home turn.

I AM IMPINGE (D Morgan) – Raced wide throughout.

CULZEAN (R Vigar) - Crowded and bumped at the start.

WEAPON (P Shiers) – Raced wide throughout.

TWILIGHT MANEUVER (B Huppatz) – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.

SMUGGLING (W Davis) – Crowded and bumped at the start.

PAGHMAN (K Gladwin) – Bumped at the start and slow to muster early speed. Raced wide throughout.

ISLAND DANCER (P Denton) – Slow into stride

1ST HIGH COST 2ND HARMONIUM BELLS 3RD ALASSAK

 

Race 7: BM54 1000m

HUSSLIN HUMPH (D Morgan) – Commenced awkwardly. Steadied from heels near the 700m.

TOORAK ROAD (B Huppatz) – Had blood in its mouth behind the barriers and after undergoing a veterinary examination was cleared to compete.

LISA (T Treichel) – Raced wide from the 800m.

CURTAIN CALL (R Vigar) – Slow into stride.

WICKED AFFAIR (W Davis) – Rider advised that his mount felt amiss in its action leaving the 750 and he elected not to continue riding the mare along. A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities but the mare had returned with a superficial laceration to the near hind leg. Trainer P Cole was of the opinion that the laceration may have been the result of the mare striking the near hind leg in the barriers. As the mare has subsequently recovered without incident, the Stewards will monitor it at future race starts.

Race 8: 0-70 1600m

TABLE OF WISDOM (W Davis) – Bumped heavily at the start. Following the unplaced performance a post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

KAPTAN APOLLO (J Todd) - Bumped heavily at the start.

SKALDAK (P Shiers) – Commenced awkwardly and bumped.

VISAO (D Morgan) – Raced wide throughout.
