Race 1 Welcome Back To Ladbrokes Pioneer Park Handicap 1200m

ALVIN PURPLE (W Kerford) – Slow into stride and raced wide throughout.

MADAM ST CLAIR (J Todd) – Raced wide throughout.

MANHATTAN SPIRIT (T Treichel) – Inclined to lay outwards under pressure from the 150m.

IRON LOTUS (W Davis) – Commenced a little awkwardly.

DON’T DARE ASK (L Crow) – Commenced awkwardly and raced wide throughout.

Race 2: BT Daley Painting Handicap 1100m

TRUCKLOAD OF HOFFA (T Treichel) – Commenced awkwardly bumping with another runner. Rider reported that in his opinion, the gelding raced in flat manner and did not finish off as anticipated. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have an elevated heart rate. Trainer J Carroll advised that in his opinion the gelding may have struggled under the big weight and would have a freshen up prior to resuming racing.

SAMIYOMAR (W Kerford) – Inclined to lay outwards under pressure over the concluding stages.

DELIGHTFUL SPIRIT (D Morgan) – Rounded the home turn a little awkwardly for several strides.

MADNESS INVALENCIA (J Todd) – Slow into stride and raced wide throughout the event.

Race 3: Peter Kittle Motor Company Handicap 1100m

MODERNA’S ARROW (J Todd) – Raced wide throughout.

DUKE OF HEARTS (R Vigar) – Rider was questioned regarding his lack of vigour in riding his mount out over the concluding stages. He explained that he felt he had the field covered in the straight given the margin he was leading by and elected to reduce his level of vigour over the final stages and won by a half length. As the gelding had won the event, the rider was nonetheless reminded of his obligations to ride his mounts out to the end of the race and the consequences of being beaten in similar circumstances.

EAGLE POINT (T Treichel) – Slow into stride.

WEDGEBROOK (D Morgan) – Commenced awkwardly.

Race 4: millerymarket.com Handicap 1000m

TIGER TRAP declared a late scratching at 3:48pm on veterinary advice after a mishap in the barriers. Stable foreperson Ms L Edwards advised the gelding will be sent for a spell.

As there was no book-maker on-course, no deductions were applicable.

BLAZING BULLET (P Denton) – Slow into stride.

SILENT ICE (D Morgan) – After a disappointing performance, a subsequent veterinary examination found the gelding to be slightly lame in the near knee. Trainer R Bell was advised that prior to the gelding again starting in a trial or race he must produce a veterinary certificate of fitness satisfactory to the Stewards.

LIVE FAST (R Vigar) – Raced wide throughout.

Race 5: Ladbrokes Handicap

THAT’S JUSTIFIED (W Kerford) – Bumped with another runner on jumping.

ALLSPICE (T Treichel) – Raced wide into the first turn.

TOMAHAWK LAD (L Crow) – Bumped with another runner on jumping.

DOON BUGGY (J Todd) – Raced wide into the home straight and down the length of the straight.

General: Trainer S Robbins (TOMAHAWK LAD) was questioned as to the riding instructions she gave to her rider given that the gelding’s usual racing pattern is to lead in races opposed to today when it raced well back in the field. S Robbins explained that their intention today was to lead but after the gelding failed to muster early speed, it found itself behind runners unable to obtain a forward position early. Stewards accepted this explanation.

Stewards interviewed trainer G Connor in relation to the riding instructions he intended to issue as his stable had multiple runners in the event.

WINGARD (L Crow) – Commenced awkwardly bumping with another runner.

CARRIE ANN (B Huppatz) – Bumped with another runner on jumping.
