IMA PUPPET (P Shiers) – Raced wide throughout.

VIETTI (W Davis) – Crowded shortly after the start. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

General – Stewards inquired into reason for ARTIE STOKER (D Morgan) racing in restricted room to the inside of GOOD TO BE GREAT (K Gladwin) approaching the first turn. Apprentice D Morgan advised that had been instructed to take up a forward position and after being slow into stride he rode his mount along vigorously to improve inside GOOD TO BE GREAT. He acknowledged that there was only a marginal run to the inside of that gelding but as he fired his mount up he then felt obliged to attempt to maintain his position in running. This resulted in his mount being inconvenienced when racing in restricted room between the 1000m and 700m. Apprentice D Morgan agreed with the Stewards that he had erred in the circumstances and was therefore admonished and advised to show more care in similar circumstances.

IRON CURTAIN 20c Place

Trainer K Hickmott was advised that he must present a veterinary clearance for the gelding prior to racing again.

DUNKIRK (D Morgan) – Commenced awkwardly and bumped. Lay outwards and over reacted by veering outwards near the 1400m bumping heavily with another runner and became unbalanced.

IRON CURTAIN (J Todd) – Bumped at the start. Contacted heavily on the hindquarters by another runner and became unbalanced near the 1400m.

MEDAGLIA VELOCE (V Arnott) – Crowded and steadied near the 1400m.

FORT NECESSITY (B Huppatz) – Hampered near the 1400m.

General – Stewards inquired into any incident involving multiple runners in the run to the first turn. It was established that near the 1400m DUNKIRK (D Morgan) when laying out slightly, veered outwards and bumped heavily with the hindquarters of IRON CURTAIN (J Todd). This resulted in both runners becoming unbalanced and losing ground. As a result MEDAGLIA VELOCE (V Arnott) and FORT NECESSITY (B Huppatz) which were following were both hampered as a result. A shift inwards from BLAZE OF GLORY (T Treichel) which was racing to the outside of these runners and going forward contributed to this incident. Whilst Stewards were satisfied that the racing manner of DUNKIRK was the major contributing factor in this interference, Jockey T Treichel was also advised to be fully clear when shifting ground in similar circumstances.
