General from DTC meeting 27 June, 2020 - Race 4 Darwin Horse Floats Handicap (1100m) – Trainer T Harrower advised that after undergoing an endoscopic examination and lung wash AMIGO MIO will now have a freshen up prior to resuming in a race.

Race 1: 3YO 1100m

LANIGERA (J Todd) – Commenced awkwardly.

MILITARY ROAD (K Gladwin) – Slow into stride and then crowded between runners at the start.

HEADBELLS (W Davis) – Raced wide throughout.

1ST LANIGERA 2ND DEFENCE ATTORNEY 3RD GRINZINGER BREW

 

Race 2: 0-58 1000m

KOWLOON KID (K Gladwin) – When questioned regarding the unplaced performance rider advised that after being slow into stride he had not been able to accelerate to race in a forward position as anticipated and his mount was then off the bit when racing between runners and furthermore did not appreciate the kickback. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

HUSSLIN HUMPH (J Todd) – Commenced awkwardly.

SOIR DE LUNE (P Shiers) – Raced ungenerously into the first turn when not appreciating the kickback.

MANHATTAN SPIRIT (T Treichel) – Raced wide from the 600m.

SHUDAPUTARINGONIT (P Denton) – Raced wide throughout.

1ST HUSSLIN NYMPH 2ND SNIPPY SKIPPY 3RD SHUDAPUTARINGONIT

 

Race 3: 0-76 1000m

Stewards interviewed trainer G Clarke in relation to his riding instructions as his stable had multiple runners in this event.

SUPER BRYAN (B Huppatz) – Cast the off hind plate in running.

ANOTHER BIT (K Gladwin) – Slow into stride. Raced wide throughout.

PASEETO (J Todd) – Commenced awkwardly.

TORCHBEARER (W Davis) – Lay outwards through the middle stages and as a result bumped with another runner at the 650m.

SILVER MELODY (T Treichel) – Commenced awkwardly. Bumped with another runner and unbalanced at the 650m and under pressure from thereon. Rider expressed the opinion that the mare had no been suited racing in consecutive weeks. A post race veterinary examination revealed the mare had sustained a self inflicted laceration to the near hind leg. The veterinarian also noted the mare was coughing after the event.

HOPE YA DON’T MIND (P Denton) – Bounded at the start.

Race 4: 0-66 1300m

Stewards interviewed trainer G Clarke in relation to his riding instructions as his stable had multiple runners in this event.

KAPTAN APOLLO (B Huppatz) – Raced keenly between the 1000m and 700m.

PATRIA (J Todd) - When questioned regarding the unplaced performance rider advised that when his mount did not have sufficient pace in the early stages to race forward the gelding had then not been suited racing in between runners and did not finish off the race as anticipated.

TREBLA (K Gladwin) – Slow into stride

ZAP (P Hall) – Bumped at the start.

MAKIN’ THE GRADE (T Treichel) – Commenced awkwardly and bumped. When questioned regarding the unplaced performance rider advised that after being ridden along early to take up a forward position he eased near the 1000m to settle and the gelding got it’s head up when crossed by other runners and after being steadied at the 650m was under pressure from thereon. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

Race 5: 0-58 1200m

ESCALATOR (P Shiers) – Slow into stride.

CHOICE APPROACH (J Todd) – Bumped and crowded shortly after the start.

KYD ROCK (T Treichel) – Bumped shortly after the start.

YULARA DRIVE (P Hall) – Commenced awkwardly and bumped. Raced wide throughout.

MINT ON MOSELEY (L Crow) – Bumped shortly after the start.

LIVADAS (C Hunter) – Bounded at the start. Steadied out across heels near the 50m.

SHAGHAI SHAKER (B Huppatz) – Bumped at the start. Raced wide throughout. Lay inwards from the 700m. Trainer C Pollard advised that he intends to experiment with blinkers as a gear change to improve the gelding’s racing manner.

CLEESE (R Vigar) – The gelding was under pressure on straightening and compounded over the final 200m. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding had an elevated heart rate.

General – On inquiry jockey B Huppatz (SHANGHAI SHAKER) was reprimanded for engaging in careless riding under AR131(a) in that near the 50m he permitted his mount to shift inwards when not clear resulting in LIVADAS (C Hunter) being steadied out across heels. In arriving at this decision Stewards took into account that SHANGHAI SHAKER had been laying inwards under pressure in the straight and the low level of interference in the incident.

Race 6: Chief Ministers Cup 1600m

Stewards interviewed trainer G Clarke in relation to his riding instructions as his stable had multiple runners in this event.

LIVE AND FREE (J Todd) – When questioned regarding his mount losing ground on the first turn rider explained that when crossed by another runner the gelding was struck by the kickback and consequently got its head up and lost ground near the 1400m. He added that his mount had then raced tractably and he felt the gelding finished the race off well given it was having its first on the track.

SAVATOXL (K Gladwin) – Got its head down in the barriers just prior to the start and was slow into stride.

FLYING TORMENTA (C Hunter) – Raced wide throughout. Trainer J Peacock reported that upon return to the stables the mare had pulled up sore in the near knee and he was therefore advised that a veterinary clearance would be required prior to racing again. Trainer further advised that the mare would now be retired.

PINZU (B Huppatz) – Slow into stride.

PAGHMAN (W Davis) – Steadied back from heels near the 1400m.

SKALDAK (L Crow) – Raced wide throughout.

MAZZARO (R Vigar) – Stewards granted permission for the jockey to ride 1.5kg overweight as no other rider was available to make the allotted weight.

Race 7: 0-62 1600m

Stewards interviewed trainer G Clarke in relation to his riding instructions as his stable had multiple runners in this event. Stewards also interviewed trainer K Healey in relation to his riding instructions as his stable had multiple runners in this event.

I AM IMPINGE (C Hunter) underwent a veterinary examination at the request of the rider after arriving at the barriers and was subsequently withdrawn by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice when the gelding was found to be lame in the off fore leg. Trainer K Healey was advised that he must present a veterinary clearance prior to racing again.

The gelding was declared a late scratching at 5.03pm. All successful bets placed prior to 5.03pm were subject to the following deductions:-

WICKED RHYTHM 11c win 13c place

COUNT OF ESSEX 10c place

LADY SATAB 10c place

ARDIZZONE (L Crow) – After being ridden along in the early stages to lead the gelding got its head up between the 1300m and 1000m when eased by the rider to settle in running.

CASHING UP (B Huppatz) – Reared at the start and lost several lengths.

Pre-race samples were taken from LANIGERA, AIR BLAZER, SOIR DE LUNE, MANHATTAN SPIRIT, WICKED AFFAIR, SNIPPY SKIPPY, DAWN RAID, SILVER MELODY, HOPE YA DON’T MIND, ZAP, YULARA DRIVE, MINT ON MOSELEY, PRINCESS MARIBEL, IN MODERATION and all runners in race 6.
