Race 1: 0-66 1600m (Div1)

MAZZARO (R Vigar) – Bumped at the start.

BULL MARKET (P Gatt) – Had a tendency to lay inwards in the straight when tested with the whip.

TABLE OF WISDOM (C Hunter) – Commenced awkwardly. Raced uncompetitively and finished well back. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities but the veterinarian noted the gelding was coughing after the event. Trainer K Healy was advised that the gelding must barrier trial satisfactorily prior to racing again. Trainer advised the gelding would now be sent for a spell.

TOM ALMIGHTY (P Hall) – Raced wide from the 600m.

I AM IMPINGE (A Lindsay) – Slow into stride. Raced wide throughout.

ARDIZZONE (J Todd) – Fractious prior to the start. Commenced awkwardly and bumped. Raced keenly into the first turn getting its head up. Returned having bled from both nostrils. As this was the first occasion trainer G Clarke was advised of the provisions of AR 79(4).

1ST YULONG AWESOME, 2ND BULL MARKET, 3RD MAZZARO

 

Race 2: 0-66 1600m (Div2)

Stewards interviewed trainer K Healy in relation to his riding instructions as his stable had multiple runners in this event.

WEAPON (P Shiers) – Rider advised that his mount initially felt awkward in its action in the early stages but then commenced to travel comfortably until near the 800m and appeared to dip and felt amiss thereafter. The gelding yielded ground from thereon and was eased down by the rider in the straight. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer G Lefoe was advised that in the circumstances the gelding must barrier trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards prior to racing again.

ZAP (P Hall) – Bumped at the start.

WICKED RHYTHM (W Davis) – Commenced awkwardly and bumped.

MY DELILAH (C Hunter) – Slow into stride. Race wide in running.

CASHING UP (B Huppatz) – Raced wide for the majority.

General – Stewards permitted apprentice A Lindsay to not claim her full allowance in this race and accepted the reason she tendered.

1ST ROSHERVILLE, 2ND ZAP, 3RD BON AIRE

 

Race 3: Maiden 1300m

Stewards interviewed trainer K Petrick in relation to her riding instructions as her stable had multiple runners in this event.

UNCLE BOB (R Vigar) – Fractious prior to the start. Slow to begin.

MARSALIS (P Gatt) – Slow into stride.

NOAHS HEART (V Arnott) – Fractious prior to the start. Steadied shortly after the start. Taken outwards to avoid the kickback and then raced wide from the 800m. Had a tendency to lay inwards when placed under pressure in the straight.

TREDICI (J Todd) – Raced wide throughout.

1ST LIBERTY'S TORCH, 2ND NOAH'S HEART, 3RD LIT

 

Race 4: 0-62 1200m

SALTY (A Lindsay) – Slow into stride. Steadied outwards from heels at the 600m. Taken inwards to obtain a clear run on straightening.

FLASH OF THUNDER (P Hall) – Commenced awkwardly.

MEAZZA (A Nicholls) – Returned having bled from the off side nostril. Trainer K Hickmott was advised of the provisions of AR79(7).

FORT KNOX (J Todd) – Commenced to race ungenerously leaving the 1000m due to resenting the kickback and continued to race in this manner through the middle stages.

ASH ROAD (C Hunter) - Returned having bled from both nostrils. As this was the first occasion trainer C Pollard was advised of the provisions of AR 79(4).

1ST VUNIVALU, 2ND MINT ON MOSELEY, 3RD THE TROOPER

 

Race 5: 0-58 1100m

GOGOLDCOAST (A Nicholls) – A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the near fore. Trainer J Peacock was advised he must present a veterinary clearance for the gelding prior to racing again.

WHITWORTH (L Crow) – Slow into stride. Commenced to resent the kickback after being crossed by another runner leaving the 1000m. As a result lay outwards despite the efforts of its rider and contacted with another runner at the 650m and had to be restrained. Continued to race ungenerously when laying out and again was impeded and steadied rounding the home turn.

THE MONT (R Vigar) – Crowded and bumped at the start. Restrained back from heels near the 650m.

RACORZA (T Treichel) – Commenced awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.

TOORAK ROAD (B Huppatz) - Returned having bled from the off side nostril. Trainer C Pollard was advised of the provisions of AR79(7).

TOTAL FAITH (V Arnott) – Bumped at the start. Raced ungenerously into the first turn due to resenting the kickback and was checked by its rider after shifting ground and carried outwards across heels.

1ST TOORAK ROAD, 2ND GOGOLDCOAST, 3RD PAPALET

 

Race 6: Flying Sprint 1100m

Stewards interviewed trainer G Clarke in relation to his riding instructions as his stable had multiple runners in this event.

CLEVER TOMMY (W Davis) – Raced wide throughout.

ENIGMAN (K Gladwin) – Bumped at the start. Steadied outwards from heels near the 800m.

SO STOIC (B Huppatz) – Raced wide throughout.

BROOKLYN (L Crow) – Fractious prior to the start. Bounded on jumping. Carried outwards when racing ungenerously and restrained near the 800m. Trainer T Gillett subsequently reported that the gelding had returned with multiple lacerations to both hind legs.

HATTAN MAN (V Arnott) – After being crossed by another runner shortly after the start the gelding commenced to resent the kickback and raced ungenerously shifting outwards abruptly near the 900m and then had to be restrained by its rider at the 700m.

1ST THE CAPTAIN, 2ND PRINCE PLANET, 3RD HIGH COST

 

Race 7: Metric Mile 1600m

SAVATOXL (K Gladwin) – Commenced awkwardly and bumped.

TURNBERRY (P Denton) - Slow into stride.

ASH GREY (W Davis) – Had a tendency to lay inwards under pressure in the straight.

PAGHMAN (J Todd) - Commenced awkwardly and bumped.

SAFETY DANCE (T Treichel) – Fractious prior to the start. Raced wide throughout.

SWANKYTOFF (L Crow) – Raced wide for the majority and yielded ground from the 600m.

1ST SAVATOXL, 2ND IHTSAHYMN, 3RD ASH GREY

 

Race 8: Ladbrokes NT Derby 1600m

Stewards interviewed trainer T Halter in relation to her riding instructions as her stable had multiple runners in this event.

AUTOCRATIC (J Todd) – When questioned regarding the unplaced performance rider advised that his mount travelled comfortably in running outside the leader but was under pressure on straightening and did not finish off the race as anticipated. The rider was of the opinion that the gelding may not have been suited to racing over the increased distance of today’s event. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

BUDGET KIN (P Shiers) – Held up between the 700m and the 550m.

CALL ME LEGEND (T Treichel) – Bumped at the start.

COMOGLI (A Lindsay) – Crowded between runners at the start.

HAPPY BIBI (P Hall) – Slow into stride. Raced wide throughout.

SHIFT THE RISK (R Vigar) – Fractious prior to the start. Commenced awkwardly and then bumped shortly after. Lay outwards from the 550m.

TESTINO (P Denton) – A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in both front legs. Trainer T Halter was advised she must present a veterinary clearance for the gelding prior to racing again.

STROKE OF MAGIC (C Hunter) – Crowded shortly after the start.

1ST BUDGET KING, 2ND ESCONDIDO, 3RD SHIFT THE RISK

Pre-race samples were taken from YULONG AWESOME, ARDIZZONE, UNCLE BOB, MASTER EXPLODER, LIT, VUNIVALU, MEAZZA, FORT KNOX, ASH ROAD, GOGOLDCOAST, EL SICARIO, PAPALET, ART OF MORE, RACORZA, ENIGMAN, BROOKLYN, ALASSAK, SWANKYOFF and all runners engaged in race 8.
