The start of the event was delayed several minutes due to track maintenance needing to take place at the home turn.
EL SICARIO (A Lindsay) – Bumped at the start. Raced wide throughout. Following the unplaced performance a post race veterinary examination revealed gelding to have sustained a laceration to the off hind heel.
KOWLOON KID (K Gladwin) – Commenced awkwardly jumping inwards bumping another runner.
SHANGHAI SHAKER (B Huppatz) – Bumped at the start by another runner.

Stewards interviewed trainer P Cole in relation to his riding instructions as his stable had multiple runners in the event.

SHE SHINES BRIGHT (A Lindsay) – After being fractious in the barriers, the mare underwent a veterinary examination and was cleared to compete.

Race 5: 0-70 1000m
Stewards permitted the withdrawal of WINDSOR CUP prior to 8.00am and trainer J Bell was advised that he must pay an additional scratching fee in accordance with NT Rule 109.
General - As jockey A Nicholls was to be overweight, Stewards permitted S Tsaikos to replace him as the rider of TACITURN.
Stewards opened an inquiry into jockey S Tsaikos handling of TACITURN in the home straight after finishing third in this event. After taking evidence from jockey S Tsaikos and trainer G Clarke the matter was adjourned. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding failed to reveal any abnormalities.
At the resumption of this inquiry on Monday 14 September, 2020 jockey S Tsaikos was found guilty of a charge under AR129(2). The specifics of the charge were that from approximately the 300m to the winning post he did fail to ride his mount with sufficient vigour or fully test the gelding in the run to the finish when in the circumstances it was reasonable and permissible to do so to ensure that TACITURN was given full opportunity to obtain the best place in the field. Jockey S Tsaikos had his license to ride in races suspended for a period of 1 month (4 NT meetings) to commence immediately and to expire after 14th October 2020. S Tsaikos was advised of his right of appeal.

LIGHT AND DARK (V Arnott) – At the request of the Stewards the gelding underwent a veterinary examination and was cleared to Race.
EXTOLMENT (S Tsaikos) – Bumped by another runner and was crowded shortly after the start.
CAUSTIC (W Davis) – Bumped at the start by another runner.
SNIPPY SKIPPY (B Huppatz) – Commenced awkwardly and bumped by another runner.

General – Swab samples were taken from all winners. Pre-race samples were taken from CRAZY LAD, CUBAN MINT, BLACK HAZE, LOOKATIM GO, CAUSTIC & LIGHT AND DARK.
