LIFESAVER (V Arnott) – Returned having bled from both nostrils. Trainer G Lefoe was advised of the provisions of AR79.

Race 2: Maiden 1100m

Stewards interviewed trainer P Cole in relation to his riding instructions as his stable had multiple runners in the event.

ARFA CROWN (K Gladwin) – Slow into stride.

CRAZY SUSPECT (V Arnott) – Commenced awkwardly. Failed to muster early speed. The veterinarian reported the gelding returned with blood in its mouth.

DEADIDIC (J Todd) - Commenced awkwardly. The veterinarian reported the gelding returned with blood in its mouth.

SECLUSION (A Nicholls) – Rider granted permission to ride 0.5kg overweight as no other rider was available.

CAUSTIC (B Huppatz) – A post race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have an elevated heart rate. Trainer C Pollard advised that the mare will now be retired.

EXACT REPLICA (A Lindsay) – Reared in the barriers and struck it’s head. The mare was removed from the barriers and after undergoing a veterinary examination was cleared to compete. Raced keenly in the middle stages and when the pace eased was steadied passing the 700m.

Stewards interviewed trainer P Cole in relation to his riding instructions as his stable had multiple runners in the event.

KOWLOON KID (K Gladwin) – Raced wide from the 600m.

EXTOLMENT (J Todd) – Raced wide throughout.

SHANGHAI SHAKER (B Huppatz) – Commenced awkwardly.

MEDAGLIA VELOCE (V Arnott) - Commenced awkwardly.

SALTY (A Lindsay) – Raced wide from the 600m

PATRIA (K Gladwin) – Steadied when racing keenly passing the 800m.

WARFACE (T Treichel) – Raced wide throughout.

Race 5: 0-58 1200m

ART OF MORE (A Lindsay) – The veterinarian reported that the presence blood in right nostril of the gelding after the event was from a small laceration.

AMIGO MIO (B Huppatz) – Raced ungenerously into the first turn and was checked by its rider near the 700m. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

General – Stewards permitted the late withdrawal at 8.17am of DELIGHFUL SPIRIT as the gelding was lame in the off fore. Trainer J Bell was fined the sum of $500 for failing to scratch by the prescribed time. In issuing this penalty, Stewards took into account that Mr Bell was aware that the gelding was not sound on race morning and he was negligent in failing to scratch by the prescribed time. He was advised that he must present a veterinary clearance for DELIGHTFUL SPIRIT prior to the gelding racing again.
