Race 2: 0-70 1200m
ALASSAK (S Tsaikos) – Raced wide throughout.
PAPALET (K Gladwin) – When questioned regarding the unplaced performance rider advised that his mount travelled comfortably outside the leader in the early stages but had a tendency to lay outwards rounding the first turn and was under pressure mid race and yielded ground from thereon. He also explained that the gelding was racing over 1200m for the first time and in his opinion may not have been suited when unable to lead unchallenged as was the case at the gelding’s previous two wins over 1100m. Trainer G Clarke agreed with these comments and subsequently advised that after returning to his stables the gelding had recovered without incident. He added that the gelding would not race again for a period of at least two weeks. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities and a swab sample was taken.
