As no other rider was available to make the allotted weight, Stewards permitted A Nicholls to ride 0.5kg overweight on ISLAND DANCER.

Apprentice A Lindsay was granted permission by the Stewards to raise her minimum riding weight to 55kg for her remaining riding engagements as she was having difficulty riding at 54.5kg. No further action was taken given the circumstances. This information was disseminated.

EL SICARIO (W Davis) – Raced keenly into the first turn.

ISLAND DANCER (A Nicholls) – Commenced awkwardly and bumped.

BLUE JEAN BABY (A Lindsay) – Commenced awkwardly and bumped.

DON’T SAY IT (J Todd) - Bumped at the start. Rider reported that his mount commenced to lay outwards slightly passing the 500m and consequently the brow band of the bridle moved over the filly’s left ear and as a result the bit pulled its mouth and he shifted his mount to the outside of the field and eased down in the straight. An examination of the bridle and reins found them to be in good order. Trainer G Lefoe explained that he had used the same bridle on the filly at its last start without issue but advised that he would now replace the bridle to avoid a repeat of this incident.
