KAPTAN APOLLO (J Todd) – Lay outwards in the early and middle stages. Returned with a laceration to the near hind heel.

General – Stewards questioned J Todd in relation to KAPTAN APOLLO laying out in the middle stages. He explained that his mount had a tendency to lay out in the back straight and when pressured by runners to his outside near the 600m the gelding continued to shift out despite his efforts and resulted in WEAPON gaining a run to his inside. He added that his mount continued to lay out rounding the home turn.

Race 6: 0-64 1000m

Stewards considered a protest lodged by B Huppatz, rider of the second placed TWILIGHT MANEUVER against the winner FASHIONETTI (J Todd) alleging interference over the final 100m. It was established that leaving the 100m jockey J Todd fumbled his near side rein and his mount shifted out abruptly and as a result TWILIGHT MANUVEUR shifted away from that runner near the 75m. Whilst being ridden along both runners continued to independently shift ground outwards in the run to the finish. The Stewards therefore dismissed the protest and correct weight semaphored on the Judge’s placings.
