General: Stewards questioned W Kerford (TRUCKLOAD OF HOFFA) in relation to his riding from approximately the 450m to the 300m when showing a lack of vigour to maintain his position.
W Kerford advised that the gelding was inclined to lay outwards throughout the event and in his opinion was racing like a tired horse in which he felt did not warrant hard riding. W Kerford did acknowledge that he may have erred in that he did stop riding all together for that section before commencing to test his mount again at the top of the straight. Whilst Stewards accepted his explanation, W Kerford was advised that at that point of the race he should have tested his mount more and not leave his rides open for question.
Trainer J Gleeson subsequently advised that the gelding will now be spelled.
