General: Prior to the commencement of this meeting, Stewards interviewed trainer R Bell in regards to the scratching of ARROGANT MISS in today’s BM 76 Handicap which had a field of 5 runners. Under local rule NT109, no withdrawal will be permitted from a race with 6 or less acceptances except with a veterinary certificate acceptable to the Stewards. Whilst Mr Bell did produce a veterinary certificate, Stewards were not satisfied that he had fulfilled his obligations under NT109(b) which reads:

Trainers must notify the Stewards as soon as practicable after an injury/lameness/disability which may require an acceptor to be scratched, comes or should have come to their notice (if not a scratching fee of $500 will be imposed). Stewards imposed the scratching fee of $500.

 

Race 1 Redkite Family Day April 10 Handicap 1200m

BULL MARKET (A Nicholls) – Commenced awkwardly.

REGAL EAGLE (P Denton) – On returning to the mounting yard, was found to have bled from its off side nostril. Trainer L Whittle was advised of her obligations under AR79(8).

FINAL CHANCE (A Lindsay) – Commenced awkwardly and inclined to lay outwards when under pressure rounding the home.

HARBOUR EXPRESS (B Huppatz) – Dipped on jumping.

TOUCH OF PARADISE (P Shiers) – Commenced awkwardly.

Race 2: Ladbrokes same race Multi Maiden 1200m

BEAU DAN declared a late scratching at 12:15pm after its trainer notified the Stewards that the horse had some minor swelling to its off side front knee.

FIOURUKI declared a late scratching at 2:12pm by order of the Stewards after the gelding took charge of its rider completing a lap of the track at a fast pace.

As no book maker was in attendance, no deductions were applicable for both runners.

MILES PROWER (J Philpot) – Inclined to lay inwards under pressure down the length of the straight.

MERACHEEVA (W Davis) – Raced wide throughout.

NORTHERN FACTOR (L Crow) – Crowded for room between runners at the 100m when racing forward causing its rider to restrain off heels on a number of occasions.

TURE FIGHTER (W Kerford) – Steadied off the heels of a shifting runner about the 1100m.

BUTTERFINGERS (S Tsaikos) – On arriving at the barriers, underwent a veterinary examination after a mishap in the mounting yard and was subsequently passed fit to start. Trainer T Gillett was advised that a warning had been placed on the filly due to her pre-race behaviour in the mounting yard. Inclined to race a little erratic in the early stages.

MANAAJIM (J Todd) – Slow into stride.

Race 3: XXXX Gold Handicap 1100m

JONNY AKHATON (J Todd) – Raced wide throughout.

RHYTHMICAL (W Davis) – Slow into stride bumping with another runner.

ARTISTIC FOCUS (J Philpot) – Bumped with another runner on jumping.

CELTIC BELLE (P Denton) – Slow into stride.

ASAHI BEARING (P Shiers) – Bumped with another runner on jumping. Commenced to lay outwards under pressure from the top of the straight.

KENNETH (B Huppatz) – Fractious in the barriers.

WHITWORTH (L Crow) – After a disappointing performance, a veterinary examination of the gelding found it to be lame in the near fore leg. Trainer K Petrick was advised that prior to that gelding again starting in a race, a veterinary certificate of soundness satisfactory to the Stewards must be produced.

MEDIATED (J Lyon) – Bumped with another runner on jumping.

Race 4: Scope Building Handicap 1000m

Stewards interviewed trainer L Whittle in regards to the riding instructions she intended to issue bearing in mind her stable had multiple runners in this event.

HOPE YA DON’T MIND (J Todd) – After a disappointing performance, a veterinary examination of the mare failed to reveal any apparent abnormalities. Rider advised that the mare likes to lead in her races and after failing to obtain the lead, was disappointing in running and failed to finish off as anticipated.

Race 5: Aus Project NT Handicap 1600m

ASH GREY (S Tsaikos) – Commenced a little awkwardly.

LAKE JACKSON (A Lindsay) – Raced wide into the first turn.

WHITEMORE (J Lyon) – Little slow into stride. Rider stopped riding at the top of the straight and ease the mare down to a slow pace. A veterinary examination revealed the mare suffered a major suspensory ligament injury to the near fore and subsequent to the meeting was euthanized on welfare grounds.

Race 6: BT Daley Painting Handicap 1400m

Stewards interviewed trainer D Leech in regards to the riding instructions he intended to issue bearing in mind his stable had multiple runners in this event.

EXONERATE (W Davis) – Dipped on jumping.

MORE CHILLI (P Shiers) – Commenced to lay out under pressure from the top of the straight bumping with another runner on several occasions.

ESCALTOR (L Crow) – Stood flat footed losing some ground.

FAOLAN (S Tsaikos) – Crowded between runners on jumping. Bumped with another runner on several occasions down the length of the straight.

BEAUS MY BOY (A Lindsay) – Raced wide in the early and middle stages.

Race 7: Happy Easter Handicap 1400m

Stewards interviewed trainer G Clarke in regards to the riding instructions he intended to issue bearing in mind his stable had multiple runners in this event.

FEED THE MONSTER (P Shiers) – Bumped with another runner on jumping.

ACACIA ROAD (J Lyon) – Raced wide throughout.

VALLEY PRINCE (S Tsaikos) – Bumped with another runner on jumping and inclined to lay inwards under pressure down the length of the straight.

SIAKAM (P Denton) – Trainer G Clarke advised post-race that the gelding had pulled up slightly lame in the off side hind. Trainer subsequently advised that the cause was a twisted shoe and once removed the gelding moved freely.

ANDAMAN (W Davis) – Commenced awkwardly.

CANNY ROSE (C Hunter) – Inclined to over-race into the first turn getting its head up.
