General: As jockey A Nicholls was overweight the Stewards approved the following replacements – R2 EXTOLMENT (J Todd) & R7 SKELLIG ISLAND (J Philpot).

COUNT OF ESSEX (A Lindsay) – Held up for clear running from the 400m until taken outwards across heels near the 200m.
COMOGLI (V Arnott) – Raced keenly rounding the first turn.

Race 2: 0-62 1300m
MR BOOMJANGLES (J Lyon) – Commenced awkwardly and bumped.
THE TROOPER (S Tsaikos) – Raced wide throughout.
EXTOLMENT (J Todd) – When questioned regarding the unplaced performance rider advised that his mount resented the kickback in the early stages and he elected to shift outwards and therefore raced wide from the 700m. His mount commenced to yield ground prior to straightening and became unbalanced rounding the home turn. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

ATONE (S Miller) – Raced wide throughout.

Stewards interviewed trainer G Clarke in relation to the riding instructions he intended to issue as his stable had multiple runners in the event.
CASINO SEVENTEEN (P Shiers) – Bumped shortly after the start.
JUSTWINS (J Todd) – Commenced awkwardly.
OREGON TRAIL (S Miller) – Knuckled at the start and raced ungenerously for a number of strides in the early stages. Raced wide from the 600m. The gelding required veterinary treatment after returning in a distressed condition.
SANBLAS (S Wiseman) – Steadied outwards from heels to improve passing the 500m.
SKELLIG ISLAND (J Philpot) – Raced wide throughout. Tightened for room and checked by its rider near the 650m.
SPY COLONEL (P Denton) – Bumped passing the 650m.
TENG HUI FENG LI ( S Fawke) – Slow into stride.
TRIDENT ( J Lyon) – Returned with blood in the near side nostril from a small laceration.
MANAAJIM (S Tsiakos) – Bumped at the start.
General – On inquiry jockey J Lyon (TRIDENT) pleaded guilty to a charge under AR131(a) for engaging in careless riding. The specifics being that near the 650m whilst riding his mount along he permitted the gelding to shift inwards when insufficiently clear resulting in SKELLIG ISLAND (J Philpot) being tightened for room and checked. Jockey J Lyon had his license to ride in races suspended for a period of 2 NT race meetings to commence after 18 July, 2021 and to expire after 25 July, 2021 and in addition was fined the sum of $500.

Post-race swab samples taken from all winners and ZOU DER ZEE (R5), CASINO SEVENTEEN (R7) & TRIDENT (R7). Pre-race samples taken from COMOGLI, EAGLE RIDGE, MR BOOMJANGLES, ATONE, IRISH MINT, LORD SMEDLEY & all runners engaged in Race 7.
