Race 1: 0-58 1200m

PROMOTER (S Miller) – Fractious prior to the start.

CAPTAIN BRIDGE (J Todd) – Steadied after laying inwards abruptly passing the 800m.

RHYTHMICAL (C Hunter) – Raced wide throughout.

CUBAN MINT (V Arnott) – Impeded near the 100m when under pressure.

MODERNA’S ARROW (P Denton) – Impeded for clear running inside the final 100m.

Race 2: 3YO BM68

LITTLE TOWN BLUES (S Fawke) – Commenced awkwardly and bumped. Shifted ground outwards when being ridden vigorously near the 1100m.

FEED THE MONSTER (S Wiseman) – Lay outwards through the middle stages and raced wide on straightening.

QUALIS (P Shiers) – When questioned regarding losing momentum near the 700m rider advised that his mount was having its first start on the track and the gelding failed to quicken when asked for an effort in the middle stages.

ROPPONGI (B Huppatz) – Bumped at the start. Impeded from heels near the 1100m.

1ST GLOBAL WONDER 2ND LITTLE TOWN BLUES 3RD SEERESS

 

Race 3: 0-66 1100m

Stewards interviewed trainer G Clarke in relation to the riding instructions he intended to issue as his stable had multiple runners in the event.

SILVER MELODY (J Todd) – Bumped by another runner near the 500m and yielded ground from thereon. When questioned regarding the unplaced performance rider advised that his mount failed to travel in running and was under pressure prior to straightening. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have an elevated heart rate.

FORT KNOX (P Denton) – Failed to muster early speed. The veterinarian reported the gelding returned with ulcerated eyes.

HATTAN MAN (S Fawke) – Raced wide throughout and bumped with another runner near the 500m.

Race 4: Maiden 1100m

ACRES MIDNIGHT (A Nicolls) – Raced wide throughout.

OLIVER BULLET (S Tsaikos) – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Lay inwards under pressure near the 50m.

MISS MCGREGOR (A Lindsay) – Raced greenly in running and lay outwards under pressure near the 50m.

SAINT OLGA (J Todd) – Crowded between runners and steadied when under pressure near the 50m.

Race 5: Flying Sprint 1100m

KRONOS (P Denton) – Following the unplaced performance a veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have an elevated heart rate.

THERMOSA (S Tsaikos) – Returned having bled from both nostrils (first time). Trainer R Robb was advised of the provisions of AR79.

BOLT I AM (C Hunter) – Slow to muster early speed. Raced wide from the 600m. Returned with a laceration to the near fore heel.

Race 6: 0-70 1600m

SAFETY DANCE (S Wiseman) - Underwent a veterinary examination in the saddling enclosure and found to be lame in the near fore from an issue with the racing plate. The gelding was subsequently withdrawn by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice at 4.40pm. The following deductions were applicable:

1st - 39c win & 35c place 2nd - 31c place

EMBLEY (C Hunter) – Raced wide from the 600m.

COUNT OF ESSEX (A Lindsay) – Had a tendency to lay inwards under pressure in the straight.

Race 7: Tab Metric Mile 1600m

There was a delay following the event to allow jockey S Wiseman (COIN COLLECTOR) to view the patrol films and as no protest was lodged correct weight was declared.

HANDSOME RETURN (P Denton) – Rider reported that his mount commenced awkwardly and struck the gate at the start and his right foot became partially displaced from the stirrup iron. This resulted in him being disadvantaged in the early stages as he had to readjust his foot in the iron.

BUDGET KING (C Hunter) – Lay inwards under pressure with the rider having to straighten the gelding leaving the 200m.

HE EKSCELS (V Arnott) – Raced wide from the 800m.

I AM IMPINGE (S Fawke) – Raced wide throughout.

COIN COLLECTOR (S Wiseman) – Momentarily tightened for room and impeded near the 650m.

General – On inquiry it was established that near the 650m THAT’S JUSTIFIED (S Tsaikos) shifted inwards slightly tightening the running of COIN COLLECTOR (S Wiseman) and as a result that gelding was unbalanced and impeded. Stewards accepted on the evidence that jockey S Tsaikos reacted immediately to relieve the pressure after his mount shifted inwards slightly and they were not of the opinion in the circumstances that he had ridden in a careless manner.
