Race 1: 0-58 1300m

Stewards interviewed trainer P Cole in relation to the riding instructions he intended to issue as his stable had multiple runners in the event.

MAXAWAY (T Townsend) – Lay inwards in the home straight.

ISLAND DANCER (J Noske) – Lay outwards through the middle stages and bumped with another runner at 700m.

BLUE JEAN BABY (J Lyon) – Bumped at the 700m and raced wide throughout.

OREGON TRAIL (V Arnott) – Slow to muster early speed and raced wide throughout.

Race 2: BM54 1200m

Stewards interviewed trainer G Lefoe in relation to the riding instructions he intended to issue as his stable had multiple runners in the event.

TREBLA (J Todd) – Bumped at the start.

ZOU DER ZEE (V Arnott) – Raced wide for the majority of the event.

DREAM WEAVER (W Kerford) – When questioned regarding the unplaced performance rider advised that his mount was pressured in the early stages when maintaining a forward position and when crossed by another runner near the 650m the mare commenced to yield ground. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

TOUCH OF PARADISE (J Lyon) – Bumped at the start.

Race 3: 0-64 1100m

Stewards interviewed trainer P Cole in relation to the riding instructions he intended to issue as his stable had multiple runners in the event.

TORCHBEARER (J Lyon) – Raced wide throughout.

KAPTAIN APOLLO (A Nicholls) – Hung outwards rounding the 700m turn and shifted wide on the track. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding had a lacerated lip. Trainer G Clarke’s representative undertook to effect a gear change in an attempt to rectify the gelding’s racing manner. Stewards placed a warning on the gelding’s racing manner.

BRIMARVI ROOBOY (S Tsaikos) – Carried outwards and bumped at the 700m.

ARROW LANE (J Noske) – Bounded at the start losing ground.

FAMILJA (T Townsend) – Commenced awkwardly. Carried outwards and bumped at the 700m and raced wide from thereon.

1ST PATRIOT DAY 2ND TORCHBEARER 3RD DEFENCE ATTORNEY

 

Race 4: BM76 1000m

BELMONT DAY (J Todd) – Commenced awkwardly and bumped unbalancing the rider. When questioned regarding the unplaced performance rider advised that despite losing ground at the start his mount had been able to progress to the lead without being hard ridden and then travelled comfortably in running but was under pressure approaching the 200m and failed to finish the race off as anticipated. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer G Clarke’s representative subsequently advised the gelding had recovered without incident following the event.

SEBRAKATE (A Nicholls) – Raced wide throughout.

ROYAL RUMBLE (J Noske) – Slow into stride.

HOPE YA DON’T MIND (J Lyon) – Bumped heavily at the start.

1ST EXACT REPLICA 2ND SO STOIC 3RD SEBRAKATE

 

Race 5: Class 2 1000m

ACTIVE (S Tsaikos) – rider took an apparent harmless fall from his mount which stumbled when proceeding to the start. The bridle and reins were displaced during this incident and after the riderless gelding was recaptured and the gear refitted by barrier staff, the gelding proceeded to the barriers. The gelding was declared a late scratching at 4.43pm by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice after presenting behind the start with blood in the mouth from a laceration to the tongue. This incident delayed the start of this event by approximately 6 minutes.

The following deductions were applicable

1st – 10c win, 8c place, 2nd - 10c place, 3rd - 21c place

NO NAY EMERALD (V Arnott) – Commenced to resent the kickback and lost momentum near the 600m after being crossed by another runner.

YOSHI TORANAGA (P Shiers) – Raced wide throughout.

DANCERS KIN (J Todd) – Slow into stride.
