General – As apprentice I Luximon was unable to attend the race meeting to fulfil his riding engagements the following replacements were approved -

Race 1: SAVASPUR – B Huppatz

Race 4: CANTON KID – V Arnott

Race 5: TOORAK ROAD – B Huppatz

At the request of SKY the following race start times were amended as follows:

Race 1 – 2.08pm, Race 2 – 2.48pm, Race 4 – 4.10pm, Race 5 – 4.47pm

 

Race 1: Class 2 1300m

REAL REASON (S Wiseman) – Taken to the outside of the field rounding the home turn to obtain clear running.

DON’T SAY IT (J Todd) – Shifted ground inwards under pressure over the final 75m. Cast the near fore plate in running.

STROKE OF MAGIC (S Tsaikos) - Cast the near fore plate in running.

PRINCESS DEJOUR (V Arnott) – Bounded at the start. Raced wide throughout.

Race 2: BMNT 1100m

TRIDENT (P Shiers) – Slow into stride and to muster early speed.

MR CASHMAN (S Wiseman) – Raced keenly leaving the 800m and as a result had to be restrained back from heels near the 700m.

Race 3: Maiden 1100m

Stewards interviewed trainer P Cole in regards to the riding instructions he intended to issue bearing in mind the stable had multiple runners in this event.

Correct weight was delayed when jockey S Tsiakos requested to review the patrol film in the home straight with a view to lodging a protest and after doing so he did not proceed with an objection.

ANDAMAN (S Tsaikos) – Raced in restricted room between runners over the concluding stages.

MALIBU EDITION (S Wiseman) – Bounded at the start.

POINTO’S PICK (J Todd) – Commenced to race ungenerously leaving the 1000m after being crossed by another runner.

CASSATT (W Davis) – Shifted outwards under pressure over the concluding stages.

1ST EXPERT WITNESS 2ND KICK IT BABY 3RD CASSATT

 

Race 4: 0-64 1100m

FORT KNOX (S Wiseman) – Held up for clear running leaving the 200m.

RAAZOU (J Todd) – When questioned regarding the unplaced performance rider advised that despite being ridden along vigorously in the early and middle stages his mount failed to respond and was off the bit in running and as a result yielded ground in the straight. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer G Clarke was at a loss to explain the performance but expressed his opinion the gelding may have resented the tongue tie and he intends to remove that piece of gear. He further undertook to take blood samples from the gelding for analysis and advise the Stewards accordingly of the results.

1ST HATTAN MAN 2ND NEW ROMAN 3RD OVERRULED

 

Race 5: BM54 1100m

General – The start of this race was delayed when barrier staff had to remedy the incorrect application of pre race ear muffs to FAMILJA.

DON’T WAIT (S Tsaikos) – Slow into stride.

ANOTHER BIT (J Todd) – Rider advised that after being crossed by another runner his mount commenced to lay outwards rounding the first turn and consequently lost momentum through the middle stages.

ALL PRICE (C Hunter) – Slow into stride.

OSIRIS (P Shiers) – Lay outwards through the middle stages.

1ST FAMILJA 2ND OSIRIS 3RD DON’T WAIT

 

Race 6: 0-64 1600m

RED’S MATE (S Wiseman) – Bumped at the start.

SKELLIG ISLAND (J Todd) - Bumped at the start.

1ST RED’S MATE 2ND AGAINST THE TIDE 3RD GRAND FINAL

TRNT Stewards follow up report (updated 12th January 2022)

From DTC Saturday January 1, 2002 - Race 4 Ladbrokes Summer Sprint Series Handicap (1100m) – trainer G Clarke advised that the analysis of blood tests taken from RAAZOU revealed no anomalies but the gelding had received a course of antibiotics after displaying symptoms of a virus in the days following the event. The gelding has recovered to the satisfaction of Mr Clarke and at this stage will race on 15 January, 2022.
