Race 1 Darwin Horse Floats Handicap 1200 metres

Stewards interviewed trainer L Whittle in regards to the riding instructions she intended to issue her riders bearing in mind she had multiple runners.

ROAD STORM declared a late scratching at 2:38pm by order of the Stewards after dislodging its rider en-route to the barriers and completing several laps of the track.

As no book maker was on course, no deductions were applicable.

BEAU DAN (L Crow) – Raced wide throughout.

FUTURE DREAMS (I Luximon) – Commenced awkwardly bumping with another runner.

CITY JET (S Wiseman) – Commenced awkwardly.

CELTIC BELLE (P Denton) – Slow into stride. Inclined to lay outwards under pressure from the 200m.

SWEET AS SCANDI (W Kerford) – Bumped with another runner on jumping and raced wide throughout. Rider lost his outside stirrup close to the finish becoming unbalanced almost becoming dislodged.

General: Stewards interviewed apprentice T Townsend in the presence of her trainer in care P Cole, as to her ride on second placegetter COLHOUN, over the concluding stages.

Stewards were satisfied that she did ride her mount out to the line, but she was advised that her lack of urgency to ride her mount out harder to the line was open for question. T Townsend was advised that in a similar occurrence when in a winning position, she must show more vigour when riding her mount out to the line.

Jockey B Huppatz advised that he was unable to fulfil his remaining engagements due to the incident in the first race with concerns to his left shoulder after St Johns Medical Officers examined him.

B Huppatz was advised that prior to him riding track-work and races, he must produce a medical certificate of fitness satisfactory to the Stewards.

Subsequently, Stewards approved the following rider changes:

Race 3 REDENZO LAD S Wiseman

Race 6 MASARU WARRIOR S Tsaikos

 

Race 2: Gillen Club Handicap 1200 metres

Stewards interviewed trainer T Gillett in regards to the riding instructions he intended to issue his riders bearing in mind he had multiple runners.

BOLTING LEO (W Kerford) – Bumped with another runner on jumping and raced wide throughout.

SAIKEN (J Philpot) – Inclined to lay inwards under pressure from the 200m.

SUPER KING (S Wiseman) – Knuckled slightly on jumping bumping with another runner.

Race 3: Povey Stirk Lawyers Maiden Plate 1100 metres

Stewards interviewed trainer T Gillett in regards to the riding instructions he intended to issue his riders bearing in mind he had multiple runners.

SPILL THE MONEY declared a late scratching at 2:50pm on veterinary advice after sustaining a laceration to its off hind when being loaded onto float before arriving on-course.

AFTERNOON TEA declared a late scratching at 3:47pm by order of the Stewards after becoming fractious in the barriers and getting under the gates before escaping through the front and galloping circuits of the track before jumping the outside fence to evade capture.

Trainer P Cole was advised that prior to that mare again starting in a race, it must barrier trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards. Mr Cole advised that the mare would now go for a spell.

As no book maker was on course, no deductions were applicable.

REDENZO LAD (S Wiseman) – Commenced awkwardly bumping with another runner and raced wide throughout.

TURN ON (P Denton) – After a poor performance, a veterinary examination of the gelding failed to reveal any apparent abnormalities. Trainer T Gillett was advised that prior to that gelding again starting in a race, it must barrier trial and perform in a more competitive manner.

GABRIANA (I Luximon) – Inclined to lay outwards rounding the home turn and into the straight having to steady off heels at the 200m.

IAMELLE (L Crow) – Slow into stride.

THIRSTY (S Tsaikos) – Bumped with another runner on jumping.

1ST MANHATTAN MAN 2ND THIRSTY 3RD IAMELLE

General: Due to the long delay in starting this event, the remaining start times were rescheduled as follows:

Race 4: Talice Security Services Handicap 1200 metres

DESERT LASS declared a late scratching at 4:39pm on veterinary advice after a becoming fractious in the barriers and was subsequently found to be lame in the off hind.

Trainer L Whittle was advised that prior to that mare again starting in a race, she must produce a veterinary certificate of soundness satisfactory to the Stewards.

BRYAN’S BABE (S Wiseman) – Commenced awkwardly veering outwards After a disappointing performance, a veterinary examination of the mare failed to reveal any apparent abnormalities.

BAR GEM (J Philpot) – Slow into stride and shifted outwards shortly after.

DEFACTOR (I Luximon) – Bumped with another runner on jumping.

ENKI (J Philpot) – Commenced awkwardly.

ZAP (S Wiseman) – Bumped with another runner on jumping and inclined to over race in the early stages.

JUST HANG UP (I Luximon) – Trainer B Cooke was advised that a warning had been placed on the gelding after being reluctant to load.

MASARU WARRIOR (S Tsaikos) – Bumped with another runner on jumping.
