General - As a result of a disqualification imposed against trainer Garry Lefoe from an inquiry finalised on 23 June, 2022, the TRNT Stewards approved the stable transfer of four thoroughbreds namely MR BOOMJANGLES (R2), CANTON KID (R3), FRAGORE (R3) and CREATIVE CONTROL (R7) that were being trained by him and had been accepted to race at the Darwin Turf Club on 25 June, 2022. The transfer to the stables of Tayarn Halter was approved on the afternoon of Thursday 23 June, 2022. The Stewards also approved the bona fide transfers of ownership in relation to FRAGORE and CREATIVE CONTROL to remove Mr Lefoe from the ownership with his percentage of shares transferred to the managing part owner. These actions were approved and processed under the provisions of Australian Rule of Racing 276(1) and the information was disseminated in advance of the race meeting.

 

Race 1: Darwin Horse Floats Handicap – 1600m

BROTHER BASSY (W Davis) – Bumped at the start.

PEMBROKE CASTLE (J Hampson) – Raced wide throughout.

JET JACKSON (S Wiseman) – Commenced awkwardly and bumped.

Race 2: U-Cart Concrete TROBIS Handicap – 1200m

WE WILL REMEMBER (J Todd) – Raced wide throughout.

CHAMPS D’OR (V Arnott) – Slow into stride. Raced wide throughout.

STARLITE REBEL (W Davis) – Lay outwards through the middle stages.

STROKE OF MAGIC (C Hunter) – Returned having bled from the off side nostril. Trainer P Cole was advised the mare must perform in a satisfactorily gallop in the presence of the Stewards prior to racing again in accordance with AR79.

LEANNA BELLE (P Crich) – The veterinarian treated the mare post race for an ulcerated eye.

Race 3: JSM Civil Handicap – 1200m

NORSE MYTHOLOGY (J Todd) – Knuckled and then bumped at the start losing ground.

TESTINO (J Hampson) – Bumped at the start. Rider reported her mount resented the kickback through the middle stages.

VENTING (C Hunter) – Cast the near hind plate in running. Commenced awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.

Race 4: ROANT Member’s Handicap – 1100m

REAL VALENTIA (M Collett) – declared a late scratching by order of the Stewards at 3.44pm after the gelding underwent a veterinary examination behind the barriers and was found to be lame in the off hind leg. The following deductions were applicable to winning bets placed prior to 3.44pm:

6c win 7c place, 5c place, 6c place

Trainer K Healy was advised he must present a veterinary certificate of soundness for the gelding prior to racing again.

BRAZILLIANT (P Crich) – Commenced awkwardly and bumped.

STAR OF MONSOON (A Nicholls) – Held up rounding the home turn.

SWEET CHEVAL (S Tsaikos) – Commenced awkwardly and bumped. Carried outwards and wider on the track rounding the first turn.

FRAGORE (J Hampson) – Crowded between runners at the start.

SMARTKAP (V Arnott) – Bumped and unbalanced at the start. In this incident the rider’s foot was displaced from the near side iron and in the interests of safety she shifted her mount to the outside of the field and raced wide in running. She was able to regain use of the iron rounding the home turn.

Race 5: Niceforo Group Handicap – 1000m

PAPALET (A Nicholls) – Steadied passing the 650m.

BEL’S BANNER (S Tsaikos) – Scrambled behind at the start.

VALENTINASTAR (V Arnott) – Returned having bled from the off side nostril. Trainer N Irwin was advised the mare must perform in a satisfactorily gallop in the presence of the Stewards prior to racing again in accordance with AR79.

General: On inquiry apprentice J Hampson (ADORADANCER) was cautioned for allowing her mount to shift inwards when not fully clear near the 650m which contributed to PAPALET (A Nicholls) being steadied by its rider.
