Race 1: Sprout Creative Benchmark NT Handicap – 1600m

HOLSTER (J Maskiell) – When questioned regarding the unplaced performance rider advised that after racing wide in the early stages he obtained cover from the 1200m but his mount then commenced to resent the kickback and when taken outwards again approaching the 700m but was under immediate pressure. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding had an elevated heart rate and was coughing. The co-trainers representative advised that the gelding had recovered well following the event.

Race 2: Darwin Racing 0-66 Handicap – 1600m

BULL MARKET (A Nicholls) – Bumped at the start.

PEMBROKE CASTLE (J Hampson) – Bumped and crowded shortly after the start.

YESUGEI (S Tsaikos) – Bumped and crowded shortly after the start.

THUNDER PEAK (J Todd) – Returned having bled from both nostrils. The mare is not permitted to race for a period of 3 months and must be reinstated to compete in accordance with AR79(4).

FLOREAT PICA (W Davis) – Veered outwards and bumped at the start.

AGAINST THE TIDE (S Wiseman) – Fractious prior to the start.

HALGARD (J Lyon) – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.

Race 4: Silks Darwin 0-58 Handicap – 1300m

Stewards interviewed trainer G Clarke in relation to the riding instructions he intended to issue as the stable had multiple runners in this event.

The start of this race was delayed due to the fitting of pacifiers behind the barriers to BRIMARVI ROOBOY.

PRINCE RUBAN (J Todd) – Returned having bled from the near side nostril. Trainer G Clarke was advised the mare must perform in a satisfactorily gallop in the presence of the Stewards prior to racing again in accordance with AR79.

COWLEY’S CREEK (S Tsaikos) – Bumped at the start.

REAL REASON (J Hampson) – Bumped at the start.

SKELLIG ISLAND (A Nicholls) – The veterinarian treated the gelding post race for an ulcerated eye.

TONY’S REWARD (M Collett) – Raced ungenerously and lay outwards through the middle stages.

NO STRINGS (J Maskiell) – Raced wide throughout.

BILL OF RIGHTS (V Arnott) – Raced wide throughout.

Race 5: Betfair F&M 0-62 Handicap – 1200m

DON’T SAY IT (P Shiers) – Declared a late scratching at 8.35am by order of the Stewards following trainer T Halter advising that the mare had sustained an injury to the near hind leg in a stable mishap. A veterinary clearance will be required prior to the mare racing again.

CAITLIN’S ANGEL (M Collett) – Bounded at the start.

PRECAUTIONARY (V Arnott) – Raced wide throughout.

Race 6: Cleanaway Handicap – 1100m

NIEWAND (V Arnott) – When questioned regarding the unplaced performance rider advised that in her opinion the gelding did not appreciate being pressured for the lead and consequently was under pressure prior to straightening and failed to finish the race off as anticipated. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer subsequently advised that the gelding had recovered well following the event.

ROYAL TYKE (S Wiseman) – Raced wide throughout.

BOLEK (W Davis) – Raced wide in the early and middle stages.

Race 7: bet365 Odds Drift Protector 0-70 Handicap – 1100m

Stewards interviewed trainer G Clarke in relation to the riding instructions he intended to issue as the stable had multiple runners in this event.

ADORADANCER (J Hampson) – Raced wide throughout.

OVERRULED (S Tsaikos) – Raced wide throughout.

SIGNOR FANGIO (J Lyon) – Crowded at the start. Commenced to race keenly from the 800m and lay outwards passing the 650m and when taken to the outside of the field the gelding raced wide on straightening and finished the race off strongly.

Race 8: Darwin Guineas 3YO set weights – 1600m

FLYING START (J Philpot) – Fractious prior to the start. When questioned regarding the unplaced performance rider advised that when racing in a rearward position the gelding uncharacteristically raced keenly in the early and middle stages and lay inwards from on straightening until near the 200m when under pressure. Trainers representative subsequently advised that the gelding had recovered well following the event.

RISING FIRE (P Shiers) – Had difficulty securing a clear run from the 400m until inside the final 200m.

STARLITE VALLEY (M Collett) – Raced wide throughout.

FISHCHER (P Denton) – Raced wide from the 700m.

WEAPON OF LOVE (J Lyon) – Bumped heavily at the start.

WICKED WHISPER (M Collett) – Bumped heavily and unbalanced at the start.
