Race 1: Sunbuild 0-66 Handicap – 1300m

KENT STREET (W Davis) – Commenced awkwardly.

NORSE MYTHOLOGY (J Todd) – Lay outwards rounding the home turn.

MIROKU (V Arnott) – Raced wide throughout. Lay inwards under pressure in the straight.

TESTINO (P Shiers) – The veterinarian reported the gelding returned with a laceration to the mouth.

Race 2: FRM Refrigeration and Electrical 0-76 Handicap – 1200m

MINI BOOM (J Hampson) – Bounded at the start.

Race 3: CJD Equipment Maiden Plate – 1200m

Stewards interviewed trainer C Pollard in relation to the riding instructions he intended to issue as the stable had multiple runners in this event.

UMFANA (W Davis) – Carried outwards near the 550m.

ZILX (S Tsaikos) – Slow into stride.

AKONI (J Todd) – Lay outwards in running.

CHESTNUT PARK (P Crich) – Slow into stride. Raced wide for the majority of the event.

SPILL THE MONEY (S Fawke) – Raced wide from 600m and impeded when steadied outwards near the 550m.

General – On inquiry it was established that near the 550m QUICK RETURN (J Hampson) shifted ground outwards when being ridden along resulting in UMFANA (W Davis) being carried outwards causing SPILL THE MONEY (S Fawke) being impeded and steadied outwards from heels. Apprentice J Hampson was reprimanded for engaging in careless riding under AR131(a) for not ensuring her mount was fully clear when shifting ground.

Race 4: Merit Partners Trobis 3YO Benchmark 66 Handicap – 1100m

TURNSTAR (V Arnott) – Lay outwards rounding the home turn.

FRACTION LATE (S Fawke) – Commenced awkwardly. Restrained leaving to 1000m.

STARLITE REBEL (J Hampson) – Steadied approaching to 1000m.

General – On inquiry jockey C Hunter (FIRST CRUSADE) pleaded guilty to a charge under AR131(a) of engaging in careless with the specifics being that whilst riding along she permitted her mount to shift inwards near the 1000m when insufficiently clear resulting in STARLITE REBEL (J Hampson) being steadied by its rider and FRACTION LATE (S Fawke) to be restrained by its rider. Jockey C Hunter’s license to ride in races was suspended for 1 NT meeting and in addition a $500 fine was imposed. She is clear to resume after 13 July, 2022.

Race 5: AFA Insurance 0-58 Handicap – 1000m

BRAZEN BOY (A Nicholls) – Reared at the start losing ground. Raced ungenerously in the early stages and hung outwards and as a result was unable to be ridden competitively by its rider. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer T Logan was advised that the gelding must barrier trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards prior to racing again.

THE ALBION (S Tsaikos) – Bounded at the start.

HATTAN MAN (J Hampson) – Commenced awkwardly and bumped.

HENESTROSA (J Todd) – Cantankerous in the mounting enclosure. Trainer G Clarke was of the opinion the gelding resented the tongue tie and when this gear was removed the gelding proceeded to the barriers without further incident. In the interests of safety, the Stewards granted permission for the gelding to compete without the tongue tie and this information was disseminated.

THREEPOINT MISSILE (P Crich) – Bumped at the start.

WATCH THE DUCK (C Hunter) – Raced ungenerously through the middle stages.

Race 6: Asian United Food Service Chief Minister’s Cup – 1600m

NOIR DE RUE (V Arnott) – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.

OUR DESTRIER (S Tsaikos) – Commenced awkwardly.

TRIDENT (J Lyon) – Lay outwards rounding the 1400m turn. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

Race 7: Arctic Installations 0-62 Handicap – 1600m

VENTING (C Hunter) – Raced wide throughout.

FLOREAT PICA (V Arnott) – Raced wide throughout.

LADY TUCAN (S Fawke) – Bounded at the start.

ZOUZOUZALO (J Hampson) – Commenced to lay inwards leaving the 300m with the apprentice having to stop riding and straighten her mount on multiple occasions and consequently she was unable to fully test the gelding in the run to the finish. A warning was placed on the gelding and trainer T Halter undertook to engage a senior rider for the gelding in the immediate future.

Post-race swab samples taken from all winners and OUR DESTRIER. Pre-race samples were taken from FEED THE MONSTER, JENNEVEE, WRITE YOUR NAME, MR CASHMAN, ZILX, AKONI, THREE POINT MISSILE, WATCH THE DUCK, THE MISTRAL, REAL VALENTIA, ZOUZOUZALO, VENTING and all runners engaged in R6.
