General from DTC race meeting Saturday 23rd July 2022.

Race 1 - Jockey S Wiseman (LATEST BENTLEY) was fined $200 in that she used her whip on 8 occasions (3 over) prior to the 100m and finished second in the event.

Race 2 - Jockey B Rawiller (ISOLA BAY) was reprimanded for a whip breach in that he used his whip on 7 occasions (2 over) prior to the 100m and finished 3rd in the event.

 

Race 1: HK Solutions 0-62 Handicap – 1600m

Stewards interviewed trainer G Clarke in relation to the riding instructions he intended to issue as the stable he had multiple runners.

FEED THE MONSTER (S Fawke) – Subsequent to this event, the veterinary surgeon reported blood in the gelding’s mouth from a tongue laceration .

SIAKAM (P Shiers) – Inclined to race keenly in the early and middle stages. When questioned regarding the unplaced performance rider advised that the gelding felt well in running but did not finish off the race as anticipated. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have an elevated heart rate.

JENNEVEE (A Nicholls) – Carried inwards and impeded at the 200m.

PRINCE RUBAN (A Lindsay) – Lay inwards under pressure from the 200m.

WE WIL REMEMBER (J Todd) – Fractious in the barriers.

SOUTHERN BOLT (P Denton) – Inclined to shift outwards under pressure over the final 200m.

General: On inquiry it was established that when tested with the whip, PRINCE RUBAN (A Lindsay) shifted inwards impeding JENNEVEE (A Nichols) near the 200m. Stewards were satisfied that apprentice A Lindsay stopped riding to straighten her mount to relieve the pressure and no further action was taken.

Race 2: JAYTEX Construction 0-62 Handicap – 1200m

ELMORE LAD (S Wiseman) – Taken outwards around heels at the 200m to secure clear running and thereafter lay outwards under pressure. Cast the off fore plate in running.

SIGNOR FANGIO (S Fawke) – Race wide from the 600m.

TONY’S REWARD (S Tsaikos) – Slow into stride and commenced to race keenly in the early stages.

Race 3: JLL 0-66 Handicap – 1100m

Stewards interviewed trainer G Clarke in relation to the riding instructions he intended to issue his riders as the stable had multiple runners.

RISING SPHERE (J Todd) – Commenced awkwardly bumping with another runner.

OVERRULED (A Nicholl) – Rider was dislodged and took no harm after his mount took fright leaving the mounting enclosure. After cantering riderless for a short distance the gelding underwent a veterinary examination and was cleared to compete.

SHENANIGAN CITY (P Denton) – Crowded for room on jumping and bumped with another runner.

RICH SUN (A Lindsay) – Resented the kickback in the early and middle stages of the event.

1ST RISING SPHERE 2ND MADAM MISCHIEF 3RD OVERRULED

 

Race 4: BET365 C2 Handicap – 1100m

WILD ROVER (P Shiers) – Bumped with another runner approaching the 600m. Held up for clear running between the 250m and 150m.

AFTERNOON TEA (W Davis) – Had to take hold and steady approaching the 800m when tightened between runners.

CHAMPS D’OR (S Tsaikos) – Shifted inwards approaching the 800m. Bumped with another runner approaching the 600m.

WATCH THE DUCK (P Crich) – Raced greenly in the early and middle stages.

WAR GAMES (S Fawke) – Slow into stride.

General - On inquiry jockey S Tsaikos was reprimanded for engaging in careless riding for allowing his mount to shift inwards when not clear near the 800m resulting in AFTERNOON TEA (W Davis) being tightened for room onto WATCH THE DUCK (P Crich) and steadied. In assessing this incident it was established that WATCH THE DUCK had contributed to this interference by shifting out slightly when racing greenly.

Race 5: Ironbark Aboriginal Corporation TROBIS MDN – 1300m

ANDAMAN (W Davis) – Carried outwards and restrained approaching the 1200m.

BOY BIG (A Nicholls) – Steadied from heels rounding the first turn.

GOOSEONTHEROOF (B Rawiller) – Raced wide throughout

BEAR FOREVER (S Wiseman) – Raced wide from the 600m.

FISCHER (J Hampson) – Raced ungenerously into the first turn. Steadied off heels when held up for clear running passing the 450m.

CHESTNUT PARK (P Crich) – Slow into stride.

SPILL THE MONEY (S Fawke) – Bounded at the start. Shied and shifted outwards abruptly inconveniencing another runner at the 1200m.

1ST BOY BIG 2ND BEAR FOREVER 3RD FISCHER

 

Race 6: Darwin Corporate Park Cup 0-76 Handicap – 1300m

HALGARD (S Fawke) – Inclined to race keenly in the early and middle stages of the event and raced wide throughout.

BROTHER BASSY (W Davis) – Commenced awkwardly. Raced in restricted room when negotiating the first turn.

All riders were breath tested for the detection of alcohol.

Post-race swab samples taken from all winners and FRAGORE.

Pre-race samples were taken from SOUTHERN BOLT, CONSTANT CAUSE, TONY’S REWARD, OVERRULED, SHENANIGAN CITY, WILD ROVER, ROJO BOOM, SAINT OLGA, WAR GAMES, GOOSEONTHEROOF, READY OR BUST, CHESTNUT PARK and all runners engaged in race 6.
