Race 2: National Apprentice Race Series (Leg 1) BM54 Handicap – 1200m

ARCHIE JAMES (E Lines) – Bumped at the start. When questioned following the event apprentice advised that her saddle commenced to shift rounding the first turn and placed her at a disadvantage when racing between runners. She explained that she kept her mount balanced rounding the home turn and after entering the home straight, she elected to test her mount with the whip but she became unbalanced in the saddle when the gelding shifted inwards. Approaching the 100m she became aware that another runner had improved to her inside. She therefore looked to her inside on multiple occasions and did not test the gelding fully in the run to the finish as she was endeavouring to ensure that her mount kept a true line and not cause interference to other runners. The patrol films supported this explanation.

COLHOUN (M Chadwick) – Bumped at the start.
