Race 1: BTC Constructions 0-70 Handicap – 1600m
EUREKA’S VICTORY (A Nicholls) – Bumped and steadied rounding the first turn. Steadied passing the 650m.
LOVEPLANET (J Todd) – Checked leaving the 650m.
BOOM BOOM SWEET (C Hunter) – Steadied outwards passing the 650m.
PAULO PACE (I Luximon) – Bumped with another runner when racing keenly into the first turn.
GLACIER GREY (J Hampson) – Faltered in its action passing the 650m unbalancing and dislodging the rider. The gelding was examined by the on course veterinarians and having sustained fractures to the near fore leg was subsequently euthanized on humane grounds. A post mortem sample was collected.
General: As a result of apprentice J Hampson being dislodged from GLACIER GREY at the 650m, EUREKA’S VICYORY, LOVEPLANET and BOOM BOOM SWEET which were following all suffered varying degrees of interference.

Apprentice J Hampson was transported to RDH for further assessment. The following riding replacements were approved:

Race 2: ROANT Members 0-66 Handicap – 1200m
THROW AT DA STUMPS (P Denton) – Raced wide in the early and middle stages.
1ST THROW AT DA STUMPS 2ND STAR OF MONSOON 3RD TO THE POINT
Race 3: Top End Steel Fixing TROBIS 0-58 Handicap – 1200m
TENG HUI FENG LI (A Sweeney) – Commenced awkwardly and bumped.
SUPER FAMOUS (A Nicholls) – Crowded and bumped at the start.
KIKUYU (P Denton) – Presented with blood in the mouth at the barriers and underwent a veterinary examined and was cleared to compete. Fractious prior to the start. Tightened for room and checked near the 1150m. When questioned regarding the unplaced performance rider advised that after having to check his mount shortly after start the gelding failed to respond to his urgings was off the bit during running. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
EQUAL BALANCE (M Pegus) – Cast the near fore plate in the preliminary that was refitted behind the barriers. Carried inwards at the 1150m.
TURNSTAR (I Luximon) – Crowded and bumped at the start.
HARD TO EXCEL (J Todd) – Commenced awkwardly.
DREAM WEAVER (C Hunter) – Commenced awkwardly and bumped. Raced wide from the 600m. The veterinarian treated the mare for an ulcerated eye.
General – On inquiry it was established that near the 1150m GOTTA BEAT (S Tsaikos) shifted ground inwards abruptly despite the efforts of the rider resulting in EQUAL BALANCE (M Pegus) being carried inwards causing KIKUYU (P Denton) to be tightened for room and checked. Stewards were satisfied that no rider was at fault in this incident.

Race 4: Phil Cole Transport 0-62 Handicap – 1100m
KIRAKAT (V Arnott) – Slow into stride.

NIEWAND (V Arnott) – Raced wide throughout.
RISING SPHERE (J Todd) – Following the unplaced performance the veterinarian reported gelding was tying up and received treatment.
MATHEMATICS (E Lines) – Commenced awkwardly.
MUNSTER (A Sweeney) – Bounded at the start and then bumped another runner.
STAGE FRONT (P Shiers) – Bumped at the start.
I’M A LEGEND (I Luximon) – Lay outwards rounding the home turn.

Race 6: On Fire Racing Maiden Plate – 1300m
EXGAMES (I Luximon) – The veterinarian reported the gelding returned from the race with blood in the mouth.
GO BARNEY GO (A Nicholls) – Cast the near fore plate in running. Raced wide throughout. Rider fumbled his whip near the 200m. Lay inwards under pressure over the final 150m.
QUICK RETURN (S Wiseman) – Cast the off fore plate in running. The veterinarian reported the gelding returned with a laceration to the off fore heel.
LET’S SOLDIER ON (M Pegus) – Carried inwards and hampered at the start.
SLINKY’S STAR (S Wiseman) – Commenced awkwardly and veered inwards abruptly.

Race 7: 30 Years of ROANT Excellence Maiden Plate – 1300m
AMERICAN JAZZ (J Todd) – Carried outwards at the start. Raced wide throughout. Following the unplaced performance a post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
ULTRON (A Nicholls) – Commenced awkwardly and bumped.
GO FORMAL (M Pegus) – Bumped at the start and slow into stride.

Race 8: TAB ROANT Gold Cup – 1300m
Stewards interviewed trainer G Clarke in relation to the riding instructions he intended to issue as the stable had multiple runners in the event.
NIOR DE RUE (V Arnott) – Slow into stride.
SIAKAM (P Denton) – The veterinarian reported the gelding returned with a haematoma over the rump and was also treated for an ulcerated eye.
LAKE’S FOLLEY (M Pegus) – Raced wide throughout.
SANBLAS (A Nicholls) – Raced wide from the 600m.

Post-race swab samples taken from all winners. A post mortem sample was from GLACIER GREY. Pre-race samples were taken from PAULO PACE, TO THE POINT, DELAGO LAD, DESERT DREAMER, MISTER MONARO, COME AGAIN, FILLE CHEESESTEAK, AMERICAN JAZZ, FIERCE LEGEND, SANBLAS, COMMAND KING & VALLABAR.
