Jockey J Todd rider of the second placed CAPTAIN GEORGE lodged a protest against the winner ALPHA STREET ridden by jockey A Nicholls alleging interference from inside the 250m. Stewards considered the submissions of the relevant parties and after viewing the patrol films it was established that approaching the 250m CAPTAIN GEORGE, when being ridden along brushed the inside running rail and near the 200m jockey J Todd elected to angle CAPTAIN GEORGE outwards around the heels of ALPHA STREET and HEY LITTLE SISTER to secure a clear run and in doing so lost some momentum and then finished the race off strongly. Stewards were of the opinion that at no stage had CAPTAIN GEORGE secured a clear run to the inside of ALPHA STREET and therefore were not satisfied that gelding had caused any interference to CAPTAIN GEORGE and the protest was dismissed and correct weight semaphored.
