Race 4: TAB Handicap 0-70 – 1200m

Stewards interviewed trainer G Clarke in relation to the riding instructions he intended to issue as the stable had multiple runners in the event.

Following this event, the judge semaphored the numbers 1 x 5 x 3. After a review of the available photo finish images with the Chairman of Stewards, the judge corrected a mistake made with the determination of the second and third placings. The amended numbers 1 x 3 x 5 were disseminated and TAB Control was notified. The riders of both affected runners were informed of these amended finishing positions.

Subsequently an objection was lodged by jockey A Nicholls, rider of the third placed MR MARRAKECH against the second placed STRUCK GOLD (S Logan) alleging interference near the 900m. After considering evidence from all parties, it was established that approaching the 900m STRUCK GOLD shifted inwards resulting in MR MARRAKECH being crowded and eased. As this incident occurred at the 900m and considering the degree of interference and the manner in which both runners finished the race, Stewards dismissed the protest and declared correct weight.

CONVINCEBILITY (R Vigar) – Lay inwards under pressure inside the final 100m.

STRUCK GOLD (S Logan) – Rider was reprimanded for careless riding under AR131(a) for permitting her mount to shift inwards when not fully clear approaching the 900m.
