General – On inquiry Jockey R Vigar, rider of the third placed CANTON KID was found guilty of a charge under AR131(b) for failing to ride his mount out approaching the end of the race. The specifics being that leaving the 50m he did stop riding his mount for approximately seven strides before re engaging and riding along again for the final three strides before the winning post. In the opinion of the Stewards his actions had clearly cost his mount finishing in second position. In arriving at an appropriate penalty, Stewards also took into account the associated impacts this had on betting and the prizemoney earned by the connections of the gelding. R Vigar had his license to ride in races suspended for 2 NT meetings to expire after 31 January 2026.
