Alice Springs Turf Club Inc: 07/02/2026

After heavy rain overnight and into the morning, an inspection of the track was carried out with all senior riders and apprentices at 10:30am just prior to race one.

The majority of riders agreed that the track at that time was unsafe to race on due to the amount of water the track was holding underfoot.

Consideration was also given as to the visibility of riders during a race and also the safety of horse and rider when the start was affected.

Stewards agreed with this decision and were also of the opinion that both the 1600m and 1200m chutes were unsafe to conduct starts from, and further to put the races back one hour or more would not have had any impact in improving the state of the track.

Therefor the decision was made to abandon the meeting.
