General: Stewards inquired into the reason for several runners receiving interference to various degrees near the 700m. On inquiry it was established that at that stage of the race, PRESS EXPRESS (R Bensley), FORGETABOUTIT (W Davis), STARSPANGLEDANCER (J Booth), MISS BOOM (J Doyle) and BLACK COAL (J Hampson) were racing tightly and in restricted room. Near the 700m, there was slight contact between MISS BOOM, which was inclined to lay inwards away from BLACK COAL and FORGETABOUTIT which then shifted in slightly with PRESS EXPRESS, which was racing to the inside being bumped and checked. In assessing the matter, Stewards were of the opinion that under the circumstances with all runners racing tightly prior to the incident, no one rider could be held accountable for the interference, however all riders were reminded of their responsibilities in riding carefully, allowing other runners sufficient racing room.
