GENERAL REPORTS

The following trainer advised Stewards of his intended riding instructions, as the stable had multiple runners in the race:

Race 6 and 7 - G Clarke

RACE 1 – NT NEWS TROBIS SW MAIDEN PLATE 1100M

General: Correct weight was delayed momentarily to allow jockey S Tsaikos (LADY FIREBALL), which placed fourth, to review the film in the home straight, with the view of a possible protest against the third placed horse (MACAVERTY). After viewing the film jockey S Tsaikos did not proceed.

BRAVE HERITAGE (App. A Brennan): Rider was dislodged enroute to the barriers; however, the horse was restrained quickly and the rider remounted and headed to the start. App. A Brennan was examined by Ambulance Officers behind the barriers and was deemed fit to ride. BRAVE HERITAGE proved difficult to load into the barriers. Trainer P Cole was advised a warning would be placed against the gelding’s barrier manners.

MACAVERTY (App. J Booth): Began awkwardly, shifted out and lost ground. Laid in over the concluding stages of the event.

PERFECT LINK (J Todd): Slow to begin. Rider explained the gelding was returning from a spell and was under pressure throughout the event. He added that PERFECT LINK pulled up well and in his opinion, would be better suited over more ground.

LADY FIREBALL (S Tsaikos): Momentarily placed in restricted room near the 150m and was steadied.

MILK FOAM (W Davis): Slow to begin.

RACE 2 – MITCON PROJECTS 0-58 HANDICAP 1000M

GUNNIE GUNFIGHTER (B Cray): Began awkwardly and shifted out.

PREDICTING (D Hirini): Became fractious after being placed in the barriers. Began awkwardly. Raced wide without cover for most of the event. Rider explained after beginning awkwardly the gelding raced further back than intended and was under pressure throughout the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed superficial skin abrasions to the right eye and lower legs and to also have tachycardia.

MEET ME AT THE BAR (S Tsaikos): Began awkwardly. Near the 700m shifted in, away from SNAPPY SWEETHEART and tightened SASSY ABBEY, which had to be eased. It was reported post-race that the gelding had lost its left back shoe.

GOD’S EYE (App. J Booth): Slow to begin (5 lengths). Trainer P Cole was advised a warning would be placed against the gelding’s starting manners.

SASSY ABBEY (W Davis): Eased near the 700m when tightened by MEET ME AT THE BAR, which shifted in, away from SNAPPY SWEETHEART.

RACE 3 – POINTSBET 0-64 HANDICAP 1300M

MR MARRAKECH (NZ) (J Todd): Laid in under pressure over the final 100m.

BRAZEN BON (V Arnott): Bumped by TIME TO BACA at the start, shifted in contacted the heels of IF I WAS YOU, stumbled and lost ground. Raced wide without cover in the early stages of the event.

TIME TO BACA (App. A Brennan): Began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped BRAZEN BON, resulting in that horse shifting in, contacting the heels of IF I WAS YOU and stumbling.

RACE 4 – ABLE INSURANCE SERVICES 0-70 HANDICAP 1200M

RIVKIN (App. D Barton): Began awkwardly and lost ground.

BON’S YOUR BACK (B Cray): Began awkwardly and lost ground. Raced keenly in the early stages of the event.

RACE 5 – REGENCY FOODS 0-58 HANDICAP 1200M

I’M A DREAMER (D Hirini): Shifted in near the 700m when insufficiently clear of CANGGU, which was initially taken out slightly by FIELD OF PRAISE which was hanging out. Consequently, CANGGU had to be steadied. Rider was issued with a severe reprimand under AR131(a) for careless riding and was advised she would be expected to make a far greater effort in similar circumstances.

CANGGU (S Tsaikos): Near the 700m was initially taken out by FIELD OF PRAISE, which was hanging out and immediately after had to be steadied to avoid the heels of, I’M A DREAMER, which shifted in when insufficiently clear.

FIELD OF PRAISE (App. A Brennan): Hung out in the middle stages and near the 700m carried CANGGU wider on the track. Rider was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.

RACE 6 – MINDIL BEACH CASINO RESORT BM76 HANDICAP 1600M

VEVINSKY (S Tsaikos): Raced keenly in the early and middle stages of the event.

AWASH (App. A Brennan): Raced wide without cover from the 700m.

VIERI (W Davis): Stood flatfooted at the start and lost considerable ground (5 lengths). After giving consideration to the gelding’s poor recent record at the start, Trainer C Nash was advised VIERI is required to trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards prior to racing again.
